    Thumbs up

Really, really good album. I've been listening to it almost nonstop since yesterday afternoon.

I'm also buying "23" as soon as it's available on the 10th.

    Thanks MD9!

No problem. I've been digging it too. Nobody writes better lyrics than these guys. Alligator was definitely one of the best of '05 and rumor has it Sufjan collaborated on a few tracks on the new album. The horns in Fake Empire sound like him.

There are so many good bands putting out albums this spring/summer. Bjork's new disc is under month away now. I may have to go hunting for that soon.

Some early favorites from this album (but they're all good):

    Fake Empire
    Green Gloves
    Slow Show
    Guest Room
    Racing Like a Pro
    Ada

I am going to run- not walk- and get this after work for a day. If there's a single line on this album as good as "Karen, sit me in a chair/fuck me and make me a drink," it's worth buying.

So I clicked on the link and it says "A file waiting to be downloaded. Boxer.rar".... Hmm, can't get it to start downloading or prompt me to accept the download. There are no other buttons to start the download. Maybe I'm just stoopid...any help would be appreciated.

Scroll down. In the middle of the page, under the google ads, there is a link that says "Download Link" Click that. If you have java enabled there is a red arrow to the left of it.

    FUCK YES!

I just found the National, and have been absolutly loving it, especially sad songs and aligator. I just got to that point where I have everything I can get my hands on and just want more. So stoked theres more coming.

The horns are a nice addition and really make the song. That may be my favorite track so far. But you are right, they are all good.

    Same here.

I'm just getting back into my music after a long hiatus. For some reason I just fell asleep at the wheel about five years ago when it came to the music world(and a few other things as well...) It feels good to be waking up and hunting down and enjoying good music again.

Same here man....exactly in the same boat with music and life (especially). Somtimes loss brings out the best in yourself. That amazement that I only relate to experiences I had as kid is kicking back in again. Feels good to be alive.

i just bought tickets for their show in Chicago at the Metro in June for my brother for his birthday...hope he enjoys it

tough choice, between The National, LCD Soundsystem, and !!! all within a month of each other.....the Metro is one of the best clubs in the US, IMO

    Would you prefer "my precious"?

I'll make a mental note of that, if you really want me too.

Ran into Seanyob at the show in SF...great show, but the acoustics of the venue were BLOWING it. so sad. Definitely see them live if you get the chance, but make sure it's in a good venue....

Yeah, I was wondering why they wouldn't be at GAMH or Fillmore - what is the Grand Ballroom anyway?

It's at the Regency at Sutter and Van Ness...it's an old Victorian ballroom, and probably works well as a, well, ballroom, not a venue. The ceiling is all ornate and just destroys amped music.
