Race Ski question Rossi World Cup 9S...
I can score a smoking deal on a Rossi World Cup 9S race ski...
150cm... I'm thinking of getting this ski for my son. He's a very strong skier for his age- 8 y/o. He can ski a variety of stiffer women's skis in the 149-160 without a problem, but was wondering if this was going to be too much for him?
Is it an adult ski? at 150cm?
He's not big or heavy, just a little son of a gun who gets after it.
I've never had my hands on a pair, so I can't judge them to next to anything he's been on. We might put him the the race program next year, but that costs $,$$$.¢¢. He'll need a pair of GS skis as well as a free ski."Don't tell fish stories where the people know you; but particularly, don't tell them where they know fish" -Mark Twain

I believe that it is an adult ski.
How big and heavy is he?
For comparison, my nine-year-old daughter, 4'9" and 75ish pounds, skis 136 K2 Apache Jrs and Public Enemies. And as onehotchili can attest, she rips pretty hard. I can't imagine an eight-year-old on 150 race skis.41 days 2012-13

If it's really a 9SWC, that's a race stock SL ski, women size. That's too much of ski.
Now, the 150cm surprise me. I may be wrong, but I thought that the smaller size for SL was 155. 150 could be a Jr race ski (but it shouldn't be labeled "WC").
Could you post a pic and be more specific about the year ?

If it really is a WC slalom ski then it is going to be way too much ski for him at that age unless he is just a fucking animal.
What you should do is try to take out a ski like that yourself though, they're "fun" but also very...uh....tempermental."It is not the result that counts! It is not the result but the spirit! Not what - but how. Not what has been attained - but at what price.

It really looks like the real deal (race-stock '05 vintage), especialy with a pivot 120. But I'm not sure with the 150cm... There was some junior high end racing skis labeled WorldCup too, I think. Which would be perfect for him.
Check with Epic, definitely.
See this thread for instance, looks there was a 150 adult 9sWC

Get him some EHP 193's with 920's and set him loose, he will dwell in the forest surviving off of rabbits and mountain goats for years, only to emerge, after killing a massive timber wolf in a battle to the death, as the next, albeit smelly, Morrison

Do you have any pictures of him skiing? I only ask because if he is already carving perhaps.

Those graphics are close to the year when the 165/155 rule changes went into effect, which makes sizing kinda sketchy. Check the plate; the metal hinged RK plate pretty much indicates an adult race stock ski. The junior plate will be plastic all the way through. I wouldn't recommend the prior for an 8-year old.

They labled all the 9s's World Cup, both adult and Jr. If there Jr's it would also me right on the ski. This sounds like an adult ski and I own it in a longer version. VERY stiff, it makes you ski it. They are sweet in the gates but there is no way I would put my daughter on a pair of adult's.
I'd cruise Ebay for a pair of the juniors with a softer flex for lighter wieght kids. I believe that would be a much better choice.
As for the smokin deal, this may be one of the very best racing skis ever made. If you can get a slightly longer version for yourself jump on it. They are little rockets. Great ski.
