TR: Burnie Glacier Chalet and bc skiing!
So.... here are some pictures from our trip to the Burnie Glacier Chalet nearest to Smithers, BC. Had a great time. The terrain is unreal, the hut is top-notch, the guiding was fantastic (first time with a guide and very glad given the scale of this place), and all that stuff.
Some of the pics are screwy because of auto-levels and stuff with the camera. I just don't have time to mess with them. So I hope they turn out okay. There are some random pics - not as many ski pics as I'd like, but I'll try to get at least one picture from each day up...

Heli landing down by the Telkwa River to pick some of us up...

Just a ridge I spotted on the flight out to the hut. Cool...

The heli with the Burnie Glacier in the background and to the right. Hut Peak above.

A cool long exposure picture of the hut with some nearby terrain...

An even longer exposure of Hut Peak.

Skinning up towards Central Solitaire Ski Peak...

Our view of the Stinkhorn (haha!) just a stone's throw away. 2000 meter drop behind us... Great spot for lunch...

Cool shot near the Burnie Step...

The skintrack with some glaciated terrain nearby. Right below the Burnie Step.

TL skiing near Loft Peak.

Big loop almost complete... heading back towards the hut...

Stormy day... many tele-heads ended up skiing upside down today. Tough snow today even with a heavy AT rig for me.

Storm picking up - heading back to the hut...

Skintrack beginning up Tom George (mtn? peak?) for some stormy-day tree-skiing...

Fun snow today. Very deep. Here I am skiing tips up and floating...

And now tips down and diving!

Good-weather day... Approach towards Loft Peak... still way out of sight.

Still climbing towards the peak...

On the summit of Loft Peak. I don't give two rat asses what you think about my outfit.

TL shredding on his little tiny tele gear down from the summit of Loft.

SH shredding as well. This time on big, fat, tele gear...

Skintrack up above the Burnie Glacier...

Bootpacking a couloir near the Stinkhorn and the Outer Solitaire Glacier...

Here we are gaining some ground on the sucker... Photo by TL.

B&W shot from where we topped out. I can't take credit for this picture... TL photo.

Me skiing the middle section of the couloir where it opens up towards the apron...

TL snorkeling in the deep apron...
That's all for now. Adios.

Schweet! Thanks for that.
That area is one of my favorites in the whole province. But I haven't yet been up there in the winter. Must change that fact, jack.

20 exposure on the Hut Peak. Moon and stars out. Nice, but cold, night.
The Babines are on the other side of the Bulkey Valley I think...? This area is in the Howeson Range IIRC... but they are very close to eachother. The Babines look awesome. Shit, everything up there looks awesome.

How did you get that gorgeous otherworld contrast on the glacier shot? Would you consider making that pic part of a thread in Photos/Vid? It is mindblowing.

Thanks for the comment - I really just got lucky with that one.
I tweaked my white balance for a while just standing there letting the others drop into this moraine and cruise the skintrack while I kept snapping pictures and changing the white balance over and over. I have a few that turned out well, but this one just had the crazy contrast.

so many sick photos, I'm not sure which one I want to use as my desktop! wow, this is one of the strongest hut TR's ever. A few more words of prose and this would be TOPS!
Yet another location added to my "to do" list.
got any links or beta on how to book this hut? location in BC, near....?"In the woods, we return to reason and faith. There I feel that nothing can befall me in life, — no disgrace, no calamity, (leaving me my eyes,) which nature cannot repair." -Emerson
