Andrew Bird - Armchair Apocrophy
So far this is probably the best thing I've heard in '07, but I just got 12 new albums to dive through. First listen was pretty solid, I quickly recognized songs he'd played live when he came through town. The second time through most of the songs had me "stoplight rocking". You know, where you rock out to yourself, look like an idiot, and don't care that the other people at the stoplight are laughing at you.
Early Favorites:
Imitosis
Plasticities
Darkmatter
Simple X
Scythian Empires

I agree. I started listening to it a couple weeks ago, and haven't really stopped. Except to sleep.

Mysterious Production of Eggs was good...but his earlier album, I can't remember the title, had some killer violin riffs. I'm gonna download the new one...thanks for the knowledge.

Woodsy forwarded me an interview with him from some magazine a few weeks ago. He's still with McCormick & Schmicks (sp?), he's the executive chef for all their Northeast restaurants, like from Boston to Philly, a dozen or so restaurants. Sounded like he was doing well. I think he lives in Connecticut now. His cell number changed so I can't call him. I had a sneaking suspicion that the poster "ArmchairCT" (CT being the U.S. postal abbreviation for Connecticut, Roo) was him but never called him on it.
Why the heck do you ask, if I may ask?
edit: duh, "armchair" I get it now.Last edited by iceman; 04-05-2007 at 01:43 PM.

So is this album more like Production of Eggs, or Bowl Of Fire?
Cus I loved production, but hated bowl of fires overall sound, although I did like a little peice here and there.
edit: just took a look in itunes, and I guess the album i have that i didn't like was oh the granduerLast edited by leroy jenkins; 04-05-2007 at 08:47 PM.

For anyone who likes Andrew Bird, it's worth checking out Bishop Allen ("the Broken String" = good) as well as Page France. It's not the same but I associate them in a similar realm, you might like them too.
