TR - Utah Spring Break (Lots of pics)

Alright, my first TR with skiing in it. Maybe one day i'll get enough pictures to make an entire TR worth of skiing, but for now I'll include the rest of my spring break along with it.

    March 10 - 17

    4 states
    3 national/ state parks
3 ski areas - Loveland, Alta, Snowbird
    3007 miles of driving

Started off the first day driving to Denver and spending the night there then getting up and heading to Loveland for 8 inches of fresh. Had great day there and am definately returning.

We stopped in at the Garden of the Gods for a quick walk to give a break from driving.

    A little bouldering

    Non mag daniel

We headed up to SLC that night -

This was my first impression of Utah ...

    Now for some skiing

We started out at Alta as we were told its not as steep as snowbird and since my friend hadn't skiied in six years I thought it would be best to stay on something flatter. We had a great time there. I spent most of my time searching for some decent snow as it was warm temps all week, while daniel regained confidence and actually became a pretty darn good skiier for 5 days of work.

Took the hike up to Mt. Baldy in search of the Main Chute. I had never skied any real chute and was excited/ nervous to give it a shot. It was deep moguls and the snow was decent given the temps and conditions on the rest of the mountain. I am very glad I did it, it was a serious accomplishment for me and I am hooked. (Now I just need to move to the Mtns and learn how to properly tour)

    My ugly mug...

    And of course ...

    bacon.

We spent an afternoon at the great salt lake - here are a few from that...

    A snake-

    the point

Then to Moab for half a day of hiking and exploring. That place rocks!

not much in the way of holds but would make a heck of a roof route...

trying to boulder into one of the arches... not happening

We had a great time and it was a great first experience with Utah. Sorry we didn't get to meet up Bushwacker next time we'll go get after Mt Baldy!

The pictures kind of snuck up on me.

You did a great job highlighting what Utah has to offer.

Been there, done that, seen it!.

But your pictures make it real. Thanks

Nice TR, was your Moab hike up Negro Bill Canyon?
Something about the wrinkle in your forehead tells me there's a fit about to get thrown
And I never hear a single word you say when you tell me not to have my fun
It's the same old shit that I ain't gonna take off anyone.
and I never had a shortage of people tryin' to warn me about the dangers I pose to myself.

We went through arches national park and hiked the trail at the very back of it. It was called Devils Garden. We got up there fairly early and beat the crowds other than the geriatric crew. It was only a few miles but had some great views!
