goats from sport conrad legit...
well, the goats showed up today as advertised...
they seem ok, matching #'s, no obvious blems...
I got the white bases, was hoping for black for cleaner repairability, but oh well, for $286 can't go wrong... I did get dinged for an addtl. $9 "foreign transaction fee" which is BS I think.
What happens with customs, I assume that since they are in my possesion, it is too late for the customs agents to come collecting, but I've never bought anything (direct) from overseas so how does it work?!?

Keep your fingers crossed. I bought something in Yurp, had it shipped, no customs charge until 2 mos. later, then BANG...$75

According to customs, even if you do get charged, it should be around $7 I think. It is 2% of whatever your total was.

As a Canuck I had the same thing buying skis from the USA. Nothing......then bam $100 duty bill arrives two months later.

That happened to me once when someone shipped me skis from Canada via Purolator or whatever. Got a bill from an "independant customs agent" who basically paid my customs fee and then sent me a bill with all sorts of charges for like 3000% more than the customs fee was. I threatened to call the BBB and they left me alone. You would think UPS wouldn't let that happen.
I missed a UPS today, I'm thinking it was them.ROBOTS ARE EATING MY FACE.

woah, so they bill you later!?! That seems like a dumb way to get the $$$. Maybe they'll catch me when I try to take the got's to Canada!!!
alright good info on the 2%... I will not fall prey to the "indep. customs agent" BS - oh I'll pay them, the whole amount of $5.72. MUHAHAHHAHA...Last edited by jfost; 02-23-2007 at 09:10 PM.

It's the delivery service that's sending the bill, not Customs. There's a "brokerage fee" plus whatever else they want to charge.
If you have a problem & think that someone else is going to solve it for you then you have two problems.

Nice... mine are on the way. They should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. I also noticed that additional customs charge or whatever on my account. Oh well.

I hate you all
If anybody HAPPENS to suddenly need to sell their 183's, I'll pay what you have into it plus some.
Yeah, I know, don't lose any sleep waiting for a PM from someone taking me up on my offer...

sounds like an awesome deal!
i have the 190s/white base. i wanted the black bases as all my other ski bases are black (so it's easier to only have black ptex around and makes it easier when doing repairs on multiple skis).
that said, while a clear base will expose the quality (or lack of) of a repair much more easily, a black base is not at all easier to repair....it just does a better job at hiding carbon residue within the repair.
nice score!

yep. everything I have with black bases looks better when repaired. With a well-done repair and a fresh coat of wax, you cant even see some of the fixes. On the clear part of my old PR's, you can for sure notice the base repairs, of course I used black p-tex for that too!!!

YES! Gotamas arrived today with black bases.
It's pretty cool it took 2 business days (shipped Thursday, arrived today) from Germany to here. You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.
