FS: Base repair iron

I have a base repair iron from Tognar Toolworks that has served me well. It works really well for base repairs as it heats up p-tex perfectly without burning it (hence no carbon residue that reduces the quality of the bond).

Price was $36, and it's in solid shape. I also have some clear and black p-tex repair string (10') that works much better than standard p-tex candles (@$7 per 10' roll).

Make me an offer. Why am I selling? I finally am moving up to a base repair pistol ($130), so this won't see any more use and I'd like to offset the cost of the pistol while ensuring that the iron is doing somebody some good instead of sitting unused on my workbench.

"Our base repair iron is a good choice for home tuners who have previously used drip candles to fill base gouges. It works with p-tex repair ribbon, string or copolymer (see these items below) so you can melt-in repairs that are longer lasting and cosmetically cleaner than drip candle repairs. It features a wooden grip and a ceramic heating element that heats fast. Unlike soldering irons or woodburning tools that heat to 1000 degrees F, it maintains a safer 550 degree F temperature...not so hot as to create lung-blistering fumes from any possible fluorocarbon wax residue in bases. It comes with a narrow flat steel tip, which melts and presses in repair material to make pinpoint repairs without unnecessarily burning surrounding base material. An optional 1/2 inch-wide steel tip for this iron is also available...it works better for melting repair ribbon into especially wide gouges or core shots (simply slide it on after slipping off the standard narrow tip). The iron is rated for 115 volts (18 watts) for use in the U.S., Canada, etc. "

sorry for the delay: just wanted to update that the iron has been sold.

i do have 2x10' rolls of ptex repair string (one black, one clear). each is $7.
