Help me find a cheap flat computer monitor please
Cheap, as in price, not necessarily quality. My sister wants one for Christmas becasue her 20 year old clunker VGA just seems to take up too much space in the dorm room battle for precious real estate. 17" is probably all she needs (no jokes, please
) reman'd might be okay, depending.... something with a little warranty would be nice. Anyone know of any crazy deals at the moment?
Something I could use a paypal or Google checkout code for would be pretty cool too (if I had one.)

I recommend (in no particular order):
techbargains.com
slickdeals.net
fatwallet.com
techdeals.net
These specifically track sales/deals on tech-related stuff. We're sorta like 7-Eleven. We're not always doing business, but we're always open.

streetprices.com I have found usually can find a product for the absolute lowest price, however some shops it brings up can be pretty sketchy, so use your discretion.

Make sure she recycles.....
the old computer monitor. It is easy just look up computer recycling in the yellow pages and bring it in. Monitors have mercury in them, along with other trace metals that are extremely harmful to the environment.

Dell. Monitors get very good reviews, very cheap, and solid warranty. I've got the 24 inch beast on my desk at work, very happy with it. Good case, good screen.
More words?

Thanks for the tip. When I went to that site, it appeared that the PC Connection rebates were expired.
But, not so, this link worked and I ordered one for $100!! http://www.pcconnection.com/B2C/Shop...F546176F39C0EBLast edited by rbtree; 12-06-2006 at 04:39 PM.

Thirded. Great quality, great price. Check dealmac.com or dealnews.com, they compile sales and coupons daily or you can search there. I've heard you can get Dell coupons (like 20% off) for a couple bucks via ebay sellers. Fuck square moniters. Go widescreen and you'll never go back.

As far as specs, look for an 8ms response time above all else, IMO.

I think I'm going to get THIS:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1138083961430
I just called & my local BB has 9 of them in stock at the $139 price. I would order the one Spats recommended, but I might rather pay the extra $40 just to make sure it's in my hands by Dec 25th.
Unless someone else has another suggestion?

Don't forget that's a 17" and the $99 one is a 19".
I wouldn't be worried about having the monitor itself by Christmas. The rebates, however, will take 2-3 months - so if you need the money in the meantime, stay away.
The problem with specifications is that there are so many ways to measure them. Companies basically figure out what specs people want to hear and doctor the test to produce that number.

I noticed on the Best Buy page it didn't mention "native resolution." An LCD may be able to display at large resolutions but looks its best when set at its "native resolution." Just another useless/useful fact depending on if you care.
