Soft Machine, Daevd Allen, Henry Cow, Art Bears, Magma and le manque de la nationalisme.

(edit) plus, I have everything they've ever released, but couldn't make Melweg this last month.

If we include the Doors, we have to include Wayne County and the Electric Chairs.

But the Airplane was seminal: three part harmonies, fantastic guitar and bass, among the first of the folkies to go electric.

I see the direct connection between Gong and Soft Machine. And how Magma fits in the picture.
But I had to google Pataphonie...

Eddie and Alex were from Amsterdam.
    Brent Mydland was from Munich.
Skip Spence was a Canuck and Graham Nash is a Brit.

The Doors get my vote, with Social D running a close second.

My vote for #1 is CCR!!!

    But some other thoughts:
    the eagles
bob segar and the silver bullet band
    zz top
stevie ray vaughan and double trouble
bruce springsteen & the e street band
    george thorogood
the four tops okay they don't count but i love them
but Huey Lewis and the News could make this list!
    beck for a wildcard
    how about steely dan
    the doobie brothers?
