That movie is fucked...fucks you all up for a while. The first 2 times I saw it I was on acid. It's just as fucked when you're sober.

    On acid? You're nuts.

Like you said, I can barely watch it sober. The car sequence near the end puts it over the edge.

Who is the director of Happiness? Is it a horror or a comedy?

Happines is directed by Todd Solondz. I wouldn't say that it's horror or comedy. It's advertised as a dark comedy, but I think it's more of a drama. A seriously fucked-up drama.

This movie is fucked as in totally insane:

    Kamikaze 1989 http://admin.2005.poff.ee/upload/33/kamikaze_poster.jpg

But I would have to say the most fucked movie ever is "KIDS", because its so damn realistic and sad. Way more realistic than "Gummo", so in my opinion scarier.

Also, the Jerry Springer movie is totally messed up, watched that one tripping...

Mathew Barney movies are fucked, see the "Cremaster Cycle"

Mulholland Drive qualifies for this list, as does Eraserhead.

Has anybody mentioned What is it? and It Is Fine - Everything Is Fine yet?

Blue Velvet has some very intense acting. Both Rosalinni's and Hopper's best performances.

I'm not much of a movie guy, I guess, because I haven't seen (or even heard of) a single movie mentioned so far. So my picks would be Reefer Madness (for obvious reasons), as well as Falling Down and Awake. Both of those are things I can see actually happening. Disney movies on acid are pretty fucked up, too.

Not the most fucked up movie I saw, but some rather good acting by Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon in the film Bug which displays aspects of delusional parasitosis, paranoia, and a tranfer of psychosis from one person to another. I really wasn't expecting much from it, and was pleasantly surprised.

    À l'Intérieur ("Inside")

French horror gore w/ subtitles. That's sickest thing I've ever seen.

Whoa, someone else has seen this? It's pretty hard to find outside of Netflix. Fucked up and everyone should see it because it totally changed film. When Lennon saw it he brought it to NYC and started the midnight movie madness with it; if I recall it played for over a year straight every single night. I think Dennis Hopper is also a huge fan.

Jodorowsky, the director of El Topo, has a new movie coming out this year starring Marilyn Manson.

After just watching it, I'll now think of "Gummo" when I think of this thread. Right when you don't think it can any me bizarre, you end up watching some girl shave her eyebrows continuously for several minutes. More WTF moments of any movie I can think of. Maybe not the most realistic film, but one that you could probably spend a lot of time dissecting.

    I mentioned this in the "brokeback" thread;

    ShortBus.

Actaully kinda amazing movie in that they hire real people to have real sex. All kinds of sex, straight, gay, threesomes, orgies....
But it's not porn and doesn't have that porn feel, it's not sex to arouse. Just an honest look at sexuality and people. it has a real plot and characters and is directed well.

But it'll mess with you for awhile...
