any Atomic Janak thoughts
Up unitl know i have been a straight Alpine skier. I'm looking at getting into an AT setup. But, this year, i will probably still spend the majority of my time inbounds at Mt. Baker. I'm getting Fritchi bindings and i'm looking at the Atomic Janak. Since i will still be spending a lot of time inbounds i don't want to sacrafice any ski performance by getting a ski that's too soft. I wanted to go with the Sugar Daddy but can't get my hands on them. I have a good price on the Janak. The Janak and the Sugar are the same dimensions but how do they compare performance wise? I ski hard, like it steep, like the heavy crud that Baker gets, not much time in the park (i do like some cliff action though). Considering what i'm used to, do you think i will be dissapointed with Janak AT setup? Should i just get a straight Alpine ski & mount the Fritchis on it? Other skis i have rode and like are the Mantra & Gotama. Pocket Rocket & Seth are okay but at high speeds felt a little noodley to me.

Unless I'm smoking too much crack, Janak and the same years SD are identical 'cept the graphics...

I have a pair of last year's Janak mounted with Dynafits. Only one day on them so far. They are plenty stiff, IMO. I'd give them 240 on the Iggy scale. They are pretty light too, but the jury is out on the flex pattern. I've never liked foam core skis and their "feel". These are no different. If you want light, wide, and stiff, they are a pretty good option.

Was very close at buying some myself... actually spoke with Atomics Tele Marketing Dept. and they said the flex is that of the SD - only diff is about 7% softer than SD. Others who ski say they are good in crud and stiff...

got the heli daddies from mntlion
nice ski, fairly light, damp, stiff enough to ski hardpack groomers but kinda lifeless. Surprisingly quick for a "big" ski, its a blast to ski in anything soft. Really good ec tree ski, because of its light weight its really easy to muscle around in the tight spots. For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was
