Huck'n and Dump'n Utah mini TR (lots o'pics)
Man oh man, what a trip. I still can't believe its over. Here are the events as I recall, with pics of maggots whom, I am pretty sure who they are. There could have been tons more pics, but there would have been a lot less skiing.
I departed Denver around noon on Wednesday, since I was rolling out by myself and it was snowing, I wanted as much daylight as possible to do the driving in. After finally passing Larmier, the snow was no longer sticking to the ground, and for all you disbelievers, here is how I made it to Ogden in 6.5 hours.

Woke up nice and early on Thursday, check the Alta snow report, 7" of new overnight, sweet!! I make it to Wildcat by 9:20, unfortunately, no one had change for a nickel, but my phone rings and Altachic, mountainman, and Macdaddy are on there respective ways. I notice while waiting, that there looks like a lot more than 7" on the mountain, but what do I know? So underway with Altacrew, led by Altachic, informed that Ballroom is open and deep, we beeline right for Bad News area for some hucking. While some lines are scouted out, I get some of the deepest turns of my life. Lets say that the snow report should have been 7 inches times 3. It was easily mid-thigh deep in there. Laughing choking and falling in some super blower, I get myself use to skiing pow with my new skis.
Lapping through ballroom I catch Skimonkey doing this nice little drop.

I have a video of BumZ doing a sweet Lincoln off of Bad News as well. Sooner or later there will be a video link here.
Moving to the otherside of Bad News, Mountainman and I find some REALLY deep snow, just about untouched. More faceshots.
So here is smiTTy about to drop a nice one. Unfortunately my camera refocused in the middle of the jump and I didn't get it.

Ballroom was getting torn apart by every maggot there. Since I am not a hucker, I was finding myself itching to go ski some more of the mountain. While lapping around Germainia I ran into Macdaddy, who instantly greated me with "Wanna go ski some pow??" My response of course was "hell yeah", so smiTTy, Mountianmain, macdaddy, mac's denver buddy, and myself tore off to Supreme. smiTTy and Macdaddy, led us on a great expedition through Supreme, as I swore not to tell where, it was F'ing amazing. We just kept trackig out and finding more and more chutes, gullies, trees, and lot and I mean LOTS of powder. We were so stoked, I forgot about the camera and it will forever be burned in my memory.
As the afternoon got later, the clouds socked in and it started dumping again. We ran into Mr. Altagirl, who led us around on some stellar trees and runs on Lower Ho. As the visibitlity turned to total crap, most of us called it a day. Not bad for the first one, oh yeah there are 4 more to go for me. Headed over to the TramClub at the Bird, met a few Maggots, but i was worthless, too tired to really enjoy it or talk to everyone. You could see the looks on everyones face, it was a stellar day. I was sleeping by 9:45 that night, I am pretty sure I wasnt the only one either.
Day 2 Bluebird pow at Alta
Well that storm that socked us in dropped even more fresh overnight. With almost all the maggots now arriving, the stoke level was going through the roof at Alta. Lined up early with Funkendrenchman, powho, bumZ, altachic and many other. Almost as a repeat of the prior day, Ballroom was the first stop.
Once again catching my breath in the middle of Ballroom, I caught Phunk going big off Bad News and heading towards a hot tub.

In all the excitement, I had forgotten Chester's work number and had to go back to the car for a DIN adjustment (thanks Boulder ski deals). I called Chester, told him to do whatever it took to get up to Alta ASAP, cause it was going off, and Devil's Kastle was about to open up, as the impending booms of the morning were surely telling us. Upon my own exploration of the mountain, seemed like I couldn't find a bad spot, I ran into all these Maggots at Wildcat.

Next few hours were a blur, somehow CS and I managed not to catch up with Chester, but proceded back into Devil's Kastle to get some more pow. On one of many laps in there, I wound up watching Spats, Dantheman, MD9, CS, UtahDave, powho and I am sure someone i am missing doing some serious work in the cliff band directly below Kastle and in the Batcave.
Here is the area that I speak of below Devils Kastle

CS in the cliff band going big, on his tele's!!!

MeatDrink9 hucking his meat, cause of the flat light, I put in some take off and landing spots for perspective.

Then down to the Batcave, where Spats and CS did a nice straightline. MD9 hucked the waterfall, aka Orbital, but all i caught was the landing.

After much deliberation Dantheman took a "easier" line out. He was eying the double on the right hand side of the earlier pic.
Dantheman dropping in.

And then we called it a day. I went out for a few more turns, but my legs were not up to it. Goldminers Daughter was buzzing with more maggots than you could shake a stick at. Drank a few beers, cheered Buzz and Altachic, prizes were given out, and as you know all went to Frozens, which is I am sure somewhere on another thread.
Day 3 Snowbasin-Dumpzilla
As for the gracious hosting of the Frozen's many were late to Snowbasin. Myself showing up at 11, to the plesant suprise of lots of snow falling, scored my super cheap lift ticket and proceded to meet many more that were also just showing up. Mellow as it felt, the day was stellar. At the recieving end of a great tour by GT40 and Meats of Evil, 10 of us were lead several times to the bounty of untracked freshies in the Strawberry area. Due to really poor visibility our group broke up, some for lunch, others for more equiptment, broken poles seeemed to be on the menu for the day. Just as some of us were thinking about breaking for lunch we found some really nice lines in Sisters and Moonshine bowl. The light really sucked and my pics just look like people standing in a snowstorm, like this one.
http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...l_DSC02663.JPG
Left to right: Chester, Lumpy, CS, Flykdog, and Spats.
Soon we realized that it was 2:30, lift closes at 3:30, no time for lunch. Great turns were had and butter pow was torn up. Good time for sure. Many of us drove down to Ogden for some good grub and beers at Brewskis, then retired early, exhausted once again.

I really like the pic of Phunk going off Bad News.
Keep it coming!
Try spot metering off the snow and overexposing 1 2/3 or 2 stops from indicated... or spot meter a rock and go as indicated or maybe under by 1/3. That'll solve your grey snow syndrome (underexposure).

ah and more....
Sunday-Solitude fresh where you can find it.
Chester was kind enough to provide some floor for Ireallyliketoski, Climb2ski and their bud on Saturday night. Snow reports were checked, and decision was made to go to Solitude in hopes of meeting up with BobMc. No maggots were met, but some turns were definitely had. We tried the times and places to meet, but did not wait long enough. Short on storyline by now, but the open terrain was tracking out in a hurry. Really good snow was found in Navarone and far left of the first double chair. A lap or two in Honeycomb and the day was over. Here are the pics.

Day 5- Back to say goodbye to Alta
After some phone calls on Sunday night, word was that Alta got 20" and it was going to be the place to be. Showed up nice and early, met up with Seabiscuit, amongst many others. Starting doing some laps in Ballroom and it was tracked, but still quite good. Bombs were dropping in Kastle for quite a while, as the maggots started to converge on the Sugarloaf chair. Next thing you know we are lining up to get ours in Kastle. Funkendrenchman, snorkledeep, BumZ, and myself patiently waited 30 or more minutes for the gate to drop and when it did, it was GOOOOOD. Somewhere around lap #4 I was asked for change for a nickel from MT, who had Hop, and Xavier in tow. Kellie was spotted along with Cletus. I think even Uber made it down with ragdolling on rocks this time.
Got another shot of CS doing his thing
http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...l_DSC02679.JPG
Many straights were had in the batcave, but not much hucking today, at least that I was witness too.
As the day wore on, I wore out. Just when i thought I had enough, I bumped into Funkendrenchman, who needed to find me for a ride home and BumZ. and I quote "We just got back from a run that was so sweet, you need to come do it with us again" I was sold. The location was pretty sweet and easily accessible. We tried to photoslut some shots but the vis was crap and there was funky mist hanging around, but here ya go. It was all it cracked up to be, deep and barely touched if that.

And that was the trip they called the "mini". I had a blast, many thanks again to those that showed us the goods, hosted us and made it great. I will dream of Utah for sure, until I make it back there again, hopefully in the not so distant future. I have been to Utah and I can say for sure "it was good".More fucked up than a cricket in a hubcap

That speedo shot is impressive. I can't believe you can go 130 mph at only 4500 rpm. Heck, my car is up over 3000 at about 70.
