Official Utah MINI
Um...Okay.
The dates for the Utah Mini are FEB 1-4.
Reasons I chose this date:
1. Tourists are receeding.
b. The snow is usually good around this time (Ruh roh raggy! Snow is minimal.)
3. Plenty of time for me to plan.
Parties: Directions will be posted shortly.
Fri: Skiguide's - Bring unwanted gear for a basement blowout sale and elephant gifts are required by all (ski related).
Sat: Rotorhead's
Sun: Fartbag's Bring - superbowl munchies.
Parties will begin soon after the ski day finishes. Please shower before hand.
Preliminaries:
Thursday- Kind of a free day. Those coming in from far away I recommend Brighton half day (starts at 12:30).
Friday- Alta/Bird (meet at the tram deck at 9)
Saturday- Snowbasin Day (ticket window at 9)
Sunday- Solitude (ticket window at 9)
Again, pm me if you need anything, etc, etc.
Try to work it into your schedules.
Thank you and goodnight.

I would recommend Friday being an Alta day, as that has been the most successful day for lots of people to show up in the past.
It's been know as the day we ski alta and apre ski @ Goldminers, then down to whatever party is going on.
Just a suggestion.you sketchy character, you

I will be there...Just a thought, if only one day could be at Alta, that would allow us folks on boards to spend as much time with the group as possible as well...I like the Idea of Friday=Alta, Saturday=tour, Sunday=Solitude.

Gotta say that Sunday should be Solisunday instead of a day at the Basin. Depending on the status of a trip to interior B.C. (cat-ops can be bitchy about the fact that I'm not 19), we might be making it to Utah for this. Not too bad a choice to have to make.

Ok, great - because I was also thinking about Superbowl sunday - Bear & I will take Friday night for hosting the festivities.
If Sunday turns into a Basin day, then I'd say we move ahead with an overnight at MD9's -
otherwise, if it's a solisunday, we'll keep it down in the valley.current ventures:

Devil's advocate:
Sat. tour day? Not for me. I will only tour with a small group of people I know VERY WELL and TRUST WITH MY LIFE. That is just the way I am.
For a Mini, I think resorts would be the better choice and those who want to tour can when they want.
I will be there for some I am sure. I dig Basin for Sunday as well. Soli Saturday or Tour Day would be my suggestion. Alta is always on Friday, that is just part of Utah Mini History. GM beers after and then party time.
And I already have posh accomodations at Skiguidebears place, my old bed.
Just throwing out my 2 cents since I have done this a few times. But just cause I did it one way means it can't be done differently this year."boobs just make the world better really" - Woodsy

I fully agree Buzz. That is why I just changed around the resorts/days. A tour/ bird day gives people options. Keep the great advice coming.

dude, reading comprehension is your friend - i already PMd you we put the King in our room, so while it's big enough to fit all three of us - it aint gonna!!!!
you may now sleep on our old queen bed... still pretty cush. Satellite TV included in room
on another topic:
Touring should be an option, but left up to peeps to organize their own small groups based on comfort levels.
always could decide a 'resort day' based on its backcountry access... so there could be a mix going on at any given time.current ventures:

If you're going to do Basin on Friday...which is the day I know I can make it...I can't.
Most folks plan on Friday (as that is when most get into town, then take a shuttle right to alta) @ Alta then right down to the valley for the party, it just works best that way instead of the first real day being up north.
You will get more attendance if you do Alta Friday.

Checked out some rates for Hotels in the Sandy area...
Here are some rates if you were to book now, they will probably go up as the Mini nears, so get on it:
Hampton Inn(Sandy) / $107.34 / 2 Queens
Comfort Inn(Sandy) / $71.66 / 2 Queens
Residence Inn(Sandy) / $169.00 / 2 Queens
The Best Western in Sandy looks like it is booked already or not taking reservations at this point. Comfort Inn looks like the best bet for a cheap place to stay that is close to LCC. I can pick up some people on my way to Alta/Bird if need be. Or if you need a ride when you arrive in SLC from the Airport to Sandy I could probably swing that for a little gas money, if my schedule allows. I compared rates between Sandy and SLC, there really isn't much savings to be had staying in SLC rather then Sandy. Post up if you find any better rates.

if it's Alta Friday, maybe the single-plankers can ride at Snowbird Friday, and then all meet up at Goldminer's? or even a small, organized tour on Friday somewhere up LCC (conditions permitting).

I won't be attending the mini, but I have used this package before and it is hard to beat if you are planning on staying in the canyons to ski. It is with the BW in Midvale.

PS: Buzz, have you recieved a package from me lately?I rarely tele.
