I cross-posted this from mtskier's thread hoping to get a little more exposure, he's a good dude, family man, and has hooked up plenty of mags (myself included) with deals on gear. Certainly something I don't want to see happen @ BB, let's keep our eyes and ears open and help Travis get his skis back!

Lost/stolen skis + poles from Bridger Bowl January 18, 2013
I am hoping someone on this board can help me out. I drove from Missoula to Bozeman to ski Bridger and Big Sky over the holiday weekend. At the end of the day today @ 4:15 I went to my car and changed out of my ski boots. I put my skis on the snowbank on the passenger side. I then proceeded to get in the car and drive up to the patrol lodge to have a beer with a buddy without my skis and poles. It took me an hour to realize what I had done and when I went back, my skis and poles were gone. I have never done anything like this before. I am such an idiot.

All of the lodges were locked up but I did manage to check lost and found and they were not there. Mtn Ops may have picked them up, but I won't know until tomorrow. I went to Nu2U in Bozeman but they were closed. I will call them in the morning.

    Skis:
    4FRNT EHP 186cm
    Vist 816 bindings (jet black)
    backcountryfreeskier.com sticker on the tips

    Poles:
Joystick poles - white w/ black checks

Luckily I have pictures of the skis on TGR because I had tried to sell them earlier this winter.

If you have any info at all please call me at 406.396.9255. I won't have much computer access but I will try to check again.

    Thanks,
    Travis

Does anyone have a pair of rock skis they would part with around Bozeman? Something a little forgiving to ski bumps with. Pm me if you have any info for me please.

By tomorrow morning I expect 4-6 inches in most areas with the Bridger Range getting another foot or two.

NWS looks promising throughout the week.

I'm arriving next Tuesday for a week, staying with a crew of non-Ridge skiers that I'll be doing my best to avoid. Was there in '08, but being partnerless I only got to explore Mundy's & Slushman Ravine.

Any tips for a Bridger neophyte, besides "the snow sucks and the terrain is worse - stay home"?

Ridge opened and Slushy did not open. Or at least they had it posted as closed all day and it wasn't open when I left at 1. The forecast looks promising for the rest of the week.

    So fucking deep.

yup. ridge opened right off the bat, but was shut down around 11:30 for something and then was open again when i got back up there at around 12:30-1:00. as far as i know slushy never opened(they said at beginning of day it wouldn't). Never seen so many skiers looking for lost skis....ouch. Happy early B-day me!(unrelated to previous comment)

P.S. pretty sure D-route never opened as well. watch your sluff

I have to say the skiing today was unreal, but the coolest part of the day was the old guy I took home that was hitch hiking. I dropped him off at the rest home on Durston, I said" Do you live here" he threw me a couple bucks and told me to get some beer. I hope I am that guy when I get old.

yep, i was one of those people looking for lost skis. skied over the little creekbed in north bowl in between where Two Way Street and Cuckoos Nest/Lewis and Clark/Sometimes a Great Notion spit out, and lost my ski. looked for a good while and had no luck. if any of you guys are skiing in that area can you make a few turns underneath the creek or keep an eye out for my ski? it's a 12/13 ON3P Caylor, bright orange bases. thanks dudes.

agreed! when they had to deal with the people mover/gate bullshit first thing on the first big day in awhile, they did a great job dealing with the situation. I was pretty impressed with the overall attitude/response from the pow-hungry mob as well(I heard nothing but encouragement/thanks).

oh and fuck you guys who are heading out tomorrow, slushman's is gonna be boot top blower at best

Today was so nice. Missed the show yesterday but the pockets of +30" I hit on my way down madman's made me hoot like an owl.

Best *inbounds* day of my season.

When slushy's opens it will be tits. Hopefully nobody gets trampled to death.

Unfricking real storm cycle, the best storm cycle I have caught in a few years of ski bumming. Hidden Gully has treated me well the last couple of days.
