No more cell phone pics? Looks tasty. I love those glades, some of my favorite terrain around on the other side of that gully! I guess you could call me a closet tree hugger.
Sweet. Now that the government weather idiots have been talking about a "long duration heavy snow event" all week, maybe we'll get multiple traces and have ourselves a good old fashioned Bridger "Storm Cycle!"Should get even more better with this next storm?
On another note, this spine is about the coolest looking feature in my immeidate universe. Does anyone know if it's been skied? How I would love to catch that in good condition, if it's even possible. Drool drool drool.

Tone,
me and whit scoped that thing a couple years back, looks sick. we never skied it though, please hit that and then "the meat grinder" for me. I think for the spine you want to drop in before you get to it then kind of traverse to the top of it but i could be wrong.

^^^Yeah it's north. Direct south facing though. Maybe it would have been sick in that storm last May? Probably not quite now. The crux looks to be getting up on it and then the first section. There is some gnar below there that needs to fill in too.
It would be so awesome to see the view off that thing with my sluff pouring down the sides, but I would cry with joy if I saw one of you crazy fuckers put tracks down it. It would make a great helmet cam I bet."The skis just popped me up out of the snow and I went screaming down the hill on a high better than any heroin junkie." She Ra

Need some recommendations. Since we are on page 108 of this thread I was unable to read through it all. My wife and I are headed to Bridger and Big Sky end of January and I am looking for suggestions on where to stay in Bozeman and resturant recommendations. Any info would be much appreciated. This will be our first trip to MT and we are pumped.
Also, will my wife be able to handle the skiing on the Ridge?, she can ski most everything at Crested Butte (Headwall, Sock it to Me, Staircase, etc). How long is the boot pack up to access the Ridge?
Thanks for any info, feel free to PM me if you want to let me in on any secrets.

Wifey will be fine then. The main bootpack is 400' and the one at Slushmans is 100'. You can make the ridge walks from there as long or short as you want.

Oh man, between getting Intuition liners, seeing the G.N.A.R. movie this week, and our 3.5 inch little ration of cream today, It's the most stoked I've been on skiing in a long time.
I figure if those Tahoe punks can rip sick lines naked while talking to their Mom on their cell phones, we better step it up in these parts. Woo Hoo! Game on, Bridger Style. We don't need no California super dump, just give us a couple more inches tonight for another sick sleeper day tommorow please!"The skis just popped me up out of the snow and I went screaming down the hill on a high better than any heroin junkie." Knee=blown=season=over. Had a really great season, yesterday was one of the best inbounds days I've had in years, putting some fun lines together, skiing pain free in my new liners, but after 27 years skiing without an injury, I guess I gotta at least blow my acl at some point like everybody else! Just rolling along into one of my B. Gully basics, made one turn slightly differently than usual to set up a little different trajectory for the air out. A piece of a little buried pecker tree grabbed one of my skis and hung on to it, but my body kept going unfortunately. FYI dukes on 12 after an easy release on 10 earlier in season, the ski on my injured knee never released, but the other one did. I could feel and hear the tear and I instantly knew I was fucked. Doctor LeGrand was at patrol headquarters and diagnosed it convincingly, so at least no uncertainty. Should be pretty straightforward.
I sure did appreciate my buddies being there. I was going to try and ski down from where I was at, but as soon as I went to make the first move to get going my knee buckled and I went down screaming like a little bitch. I knew right then a sled ride could save the rest of my knee. Patrol was amazing, everything went great without a doubt, they did save me alot of pain and likely serious damage to the rest of my knee. Sled ride down was kinda fun, one big face shot the whole way, last time for a while I guess. Oh well, I'm gonna take it in stride, get fixed, and come back strong next year. If Pnut can do it, anybody can!
Here is the man himself making the most of the pow day before I ruined it for him.

So y'all keep shredding it, be sure to pork out my favorite lines every time it snows and have the time of your lives out there. Nothing makes me happier than my buddies sending it, so go postal out there. Huge thanks to everyone in the Bridger Community that have helped make this place feel like the greatest home I could ever have. I have a feeling the jet stream will be a little more favorable for us the rest of the season! /endblog.Last edited by tone capone; 01-19-2011 at 02:49 PM.

Ah dude, that sucks. Sorry to hear it. Welcome to the season-ending injury club, I am guessing just about every mag is a member or will be someday.

Holy shit tone!
I was right there with you on the O's side of B-gully, watched you come cruising out of the upper part and stop by the big tree. Where exactly did you wreck? It must've been right after I skied down.
Bad news man, but... you'll be fine. Plenty-o-rippers with weird knees. Go overboard with the PT and don't slack!
I'll be sure to take more photos this season.

01-19-2011, 03:47 PM #2700No doubt.Go overboard with the PT and don't slack!
Yeah, it was right after we saw you. We were kind of debating wether to cut over to the diving board section of the O's at the second half or just finish in B gully. Looked down and saw it was untracked going down into the rock island in the middle, sorry I don't know what it's called. My buddies went first, I went in 3rd and tried a slightly different turn sequence than usual in the little sluice above the rock and got totally grabbed by a hidden pecker tree, rookie mistake really. I should never have put my skis sideways in that tight spot above the air but I wanted to try something slightly different than the same damn turns I make every time there.
Pretty humbling, seeing as that is one of my favorite little go to lines early on a pow day. Doesn't seem that gnarly but it chewed me up and spit me out. The worst thing was tumbling out the rest of the line with my limp lower leg contorting in directions I knew were not normal as my ski was getting snagged by other little trees. Luckily I didn't hurt anything else at all, but I was really scared I was gonna wrench my knee in some other crazy direction by the time the tumble was over.
Overall I'm just grateful for patrol and glad I was inbounds and with two good buddies. Could have been worse in a thousand ways. I'm a lucky idiot today for sure.Last edited by tone capone; 01-19-2011 at 04:03 PM.
