    self made hot tub

    been pondering this idea for sometime now. I need one up at my cabin for when i bring the honnies up but am way to cheap to go out and buy one. has anyone done this before because other than a cattle trough and a fire i can't come up with any more ideas.
    wait,wait,...i think i am on to something here...this is pure snow, do you have any idea what the street value of this mountain is!

    obviously i wasn't thinking of putting the fire under the tub but maybe....with coals or pipes or something to bring the heat under the tub

    Actually, I've been thinking about doing the exact same thing. I priced out some wood fired hottubs for my cabin, and the cheapest ones were around $1800!!! I mean, how hard can it be to light a fucking fire under a water filled bucket? But seriously... I think I can build one for under $500. Now I just have to try.

    gO OUT AND BUY A kiddie pool. The type with heavy duty pvc. The one I've got has a blowup ring at the top & that is all. It inflated bit holds the pool walls up. It is shaped so that the bottm is wider than the top. Mine has two nozzel connection spouts on it. Run hos from the spouts to an RV pump then coil up a piece of 1/2" copper pipe and throw it into a fire pit suspended off the bottom wit a couple rocks. Light a fire. Turnon the pump. Ta da.
    I have not done it but I have seen it done on the beach while out camping.

    Like this one. I've sen them a bit smaller. This one comes with a pump for $100 so all you would need is chunk of copper ~$25-$50.

    Try doing a search for Snorkelstoves on the web to get an idea of a wood fired tub. Then find yourself an old cedar hot tub and a buddy who can weld up an airtight firebox and make your own.

    just make a thermometer that's fixed at 100deg and place it where no one can miss seeing it, then a chunk of some dry ice for the "steam" and then no need to actually heat the water, all you need is the tub.

    I built one years ago from a kit and used a snorkel stove. It accomodated 2.5 people and took about 3 hours to heat.

    Search google for snorkel stove, used to be made in Seattle.
