Super Duper East Coast Travel TR

Had the opportunity to do a week-long business/pleasure trip back east last week. Visited NYC, Boston, Lake Winnipesaukee and Boothbay Harbor, ME. While I don't know that I'd ever want to move back east, it sure is beautfiful back there. The leaves were just starting to change in Maine and NH--wish I could visit two weeks from now--seems like it will be off the HEEZ! I'll let the pics do most of the talking.

    NYC

Rode bikes down to the southernmost tip of Manhattan to check out that Bodies exhibit. Craziness. Some cool boats down there as well.

Early mornings in central park are so peaceful. Seriously think this place is one of the coolest places on earth--being a huge chunk of green in the middle of one of the busiest cities on earth.

    Bow Bridge

After NYC, took the coastal train up to Boston--pretty train ride. Only spent a couple hours in Boston so no pics. After that it was on to Lake Winnipesaukee to shoot a buddy's lake house.

Sunrise on the Lake--not too shabby.

    Accommodations were ok--I guess.

Managed to take a ride on a sweetass scooter to a little joint called Ossipee. Didnt' have much time, but I'd like to spend much more...

After that, it was on to Boothbay Harbor. I've wanted to visit Maine for a long time--just love how different it is from Utarr. Woke up to pouring rain. Needless to say, it was not all that easy holding an umbrella and trying to set up the shot with the tripod, cable release, blah blah blah...

    Southport Island

There are so man old school cemetaries back there. I was blown away at how cool they were. Maybe it's morbid, but it's beautiful nonetheless.

    Boothbay Cemetary

I drove up to Pemaquid Point to find stinging rain and wind. Sweet. After several rediculous attempts at holding an umbrella on with coastal winds threatening to send me swimming, the rain let up. This place was killer.

Spent several hours at Pemaquid and decided to head over to Ocean Point for sunset--hoping for skies to clear. I was justly rewarded. Definitely one of the more beautiful settings I've shot in.

    Ocean Point

I decided to get up the next day for sunrise, only to be shut down by thick fog. It kind of worked out though. Boothbay in the fog looked real, and not some manufactured tourist location--even though it is heavily visited by tourists.

    Boothbay Harbor

All in all it was an awesome trip. Got some killer photos, ate some great food (twin lobster dinner at Lobsterman's Wharf--booyeah), and developed a keen liking for the Eastern Seaboard. I'm spent. Hope you enjoyed the TR.

Great pics, cool that you were able to get to so many spots.

Love this one, Ocean Point with Fisherman's island in the way background...

edit, tough to see, but one of the islands opposite the lighthouse is where I went to keg parties in high school and college during the summer time... nothing like late night wasted boat commutes...

Beautiful shots Griz, keep it up!
I think that the human mind is unique among all other forms of life in that it can spontaneously create unique thoughts and provide unique behaviors. Instead of rewarding that uniqueness we, for some reason probably because of cultural and social necessity, we chastise unique behavior and reward conformity.

Visiting old cemetaries is cool. I visited one while in the field for work and saw some civil war era headstones on top of an indian burial mound. Quite surreal.

As someone who has spent a lot of time in coastal Maine, let me say that those pics really capture the place. All you're missing to fully capture that Boothbay feeling is one of a fat mall-haired chick in a yellow slicker throwing up on herself outside Brown's Wharf Bar.

As someone who has spent even more time on Winnipesaukee, let me say that I would like to know when your friend will be out of town next, and where he hides his spare key.

    Awesome snaps, though. F'real.

And I'd like to thank him for his contribution to our Schools.

Beautiful shots. I've been defending the EC for a long time, it's cool to have someone like you come in with "fresh eyes" and see what I see - and take shots that I couldn't!

The only pic I took on my recent nyc trip. Just had to document this gihuge-ic turkey and lean corned beef on rye from the old school 24 hr deli around the corner from my dad's apt.

    Nice pix griz.
