Helmets for big heads
I've never skied with a helmet in my life. Now after more than a few close calls and seeing some of the dents in my friend's helmets I'm thinking I'm about due to smarten the fuck up. Problem is I have a big head. I wear about a size 7 3/4 baseball hat and most off the rack headware is just too small.
I've tried on a handful of helmets at stores in size XL and they get on my head but are just too narrow and I can see myself with a rippin' headache after 15 mintues of skiing.
So for all you uber smart folks with huge domes, what helmet works for you?

Try the Giro G10-MX in an XL. I've got about a 7 5/8 and it is big on me.

I have similar size head and ride the Giro Fuse (believe it is an XL). As you probably know, however, there is more to it than just circumference fit. Everything Giro seems to fit my big dome.

Giro Helmets Thirded
I have a XL Giro Flint that is a good fit. I have to take some of the internal padding out, but it does fit well after that.
Giro even make an XXL now that was, incredibly, too big for me!

I've got a big head too- probably around 7-1/2 or 7-5/8 hat- and wear a Giro Nine L/XL. I was surprised when I could put on that size... its usually nothing less than an XL.

Leedom makes helmets in XXL and XXXL. They're probably your best bet, and you can usually find them on super-sale as no one else buys the sasquatch sizes.
Round vs. oval head is another issue. Giros and Pro-Tecs tend to be round, Bells tend to be oval. The Bern I tried is ovalish. Don't know about Leedom, Marker, etc.

I've got a huge melon too - the only two I have been happy with are Giro XL and Leedom XXL. Those two seem to fit me about the same.

I agree with everyone who said Giro. A Flint XL fits myhead great, and I wear a 7 5/8. Its the only brand, even in XL, that doesnt kill my head.

I'm a 7 3/4 hat size. Leedom XXL fits me.

The leedom xxl fit my head but it made my large noggin look huge.
I junked that peice of crap and bought one of these http://www.sweet.no/helmets_trooper_s1.htm
Best fitting helmet I've had and they are low volume so your head doesn't look freakishly large.
