Good stuff, I had the same experience on the New about 15 years ago. I got tossed from the raft in a big hole called Suprise!

Awww, surprise is just a big fluffy monster with no teeth...although it can be fun for rafts to flip on.

From the US Natl Whitewater Center in Charlotte (Not my Pics though)

I was there yesterday, it's a fantastic facility. I'll get a TR up with some descriptions pics and more carnage, maybe later this afternoon.

    A few more fun ones

That foot used to be the guide

This was the first day after this guide checked out

This guys ducky was getting surfed in this hole in the middle of a class IV. I'd swum this rapid numerous times before, so I figured the easiest way to get it out was to swim out to that rock, and dive in. I lucked out and this was one of the days that our photog was shooting this rapid. Fun times. I definitely miss that job sometimes.

    SCORE!!
    +100 for the guide.

If the guide has a clean dump-truck maneuver (tossing out all the gapers) while staying in the boat, you get a beer.

Our only beer rule was if the guide fell out, he or she owed a case to everyone else. We definitely still took pride in the dump truck though :

yea....that was our rule...if the guide swam, we owed a case of beer to everyone. if not....all about dumping as many people as possible who signed up for a river trip but "didn't want to get wet"

Yeah, amazing how none of them ever wanted to get wet. Their brains somehow don't recognize the "water" in whitewater rafting. Damn disneyworld brainwashed tourons. I'm glad I don't have to pretend to like them anymore. Or pray for tips to pay for the beer that I owe everyone

:edit: Oh yeah, and the best thing about that pic above is that I was trip leader on that one, but with the rope setups I was the last to run. It was a 9-boat trip, every single guide and guest had a front row seat for the dump, and then they all got to scramble to pick up my crew. YeeHaw

What? You say you can't swim? That's okay. Just sit here in the back, miss, next to me.

That way I can help you if you start to fall out of the boat.

There is a competition channel, a big water channel, an intermediate channel, etc.

A few pics - credit to my buddies...

It looks pretty pricey. $15 for 1.5 hours!!! Are all the play spots weak like the ones in your photos? Are there any real rapids or is it just ledge drops? I think the idea sounds sweet but the whitewater does not look legit.

    Try these...

$15 for 1.5 hours and $25 for the day. Its not bad when there is no whitewater within 3-4 hours.

The whole "river" is configurable and they are supposedly working on improving the play spots, but there are a lot of "ledge drops" that are just holes.

There is about 1200 cfs going through the main channel.

This one is funny as hell. I was crying from laughing so hard. Another one from the Charlotte Whitewater Center..

Competition channel. Right before the drop the guide tries to scare the rafters and yells "WE"RE ALL GONNA SWIM". Right at the bottom of the drop guess who is the first out of the boat? The guide.

Another raft comes along...The fat guy getting pulled back in is about to have a stroke I think.

With the lack of paddlers they were absolutely stuck in this eddy. Im talking 5-10 minutes. It was forever.

Then they tried to go all the way back into the hole to launch out, well the guide went swimming again...

Notice the guide in the right part of the picture, along with the re-enforcements being sent in with paddles on the shore.

Now that the guide is gone, the struggle continues. As they are going in Im on the shore screaming "SURF THAT BITCH, GET IN THERE". The wave starts sufing them.

    A few more swimmers...
