Mid 80 days and mid 70 nights around here. Usually the last week of September marks the turn in So Cal. October and November are often the 2 nicest months of the year where I live. A bit cooler with blue skis and winter surf starting to hit us from storms in the Gulf of Alaska.

Normally I try not to get excited about skiing till October to save myself some angst but I made the "turn" a week ago when some deushe' posted up winter prediction, they were dismal but the effect was still the same. I have been drooling over skis/boots and passes ever since.

Definitely a Front Range turn rolled in last night. Low misty clouds and fog, successive heavy rain storms througout the evening and a huge drop in temp compared to last week.

Time to get my new tuning bench assembled and cook up anything with green chile in it...

It happened for me. The lows at night have been in the mid to low 40s and there's a noticeable nip in the air when the sun isn't out. And since, I've been drooling over new ski gear and reckless buying here and there. Bring it.

Tasted a little like winter at the summit of Chocorua at sunset this evening. Nice little run up after class to catch the sun and sky show. Winds were cranking. Colors starting. It's time.

Walked out with the pups for the morning pee and had to duck back in for a vest. as it was chilly. Perhaps that is the end of the heat we get and the beginning of the Turn to Fall and then Winter.

Bro-in-law got snowed on running Sugar Bowl to Squaw this morning. 4 hours = not bad for a guy from Louisiana with only a couple days acclimation.

    It's coming.....
    Gonna be an early winter.
Don't know if it'll be a big one, but I think it'll be early.

It seems a long way off here. in the 90s the last few days and kind of muggy. Though I did get the Mountain collective pass email yesterday, so there's that.

Hard frost here in the AM, leaves are changing, and it snowed at the top of JHMR over Labor Day weekend... it's definitely turned. Gonna be milking the rest of bike season as much as possible, though!

The turn arrives Friday, just in time for the MSP World Premiere:

Currently freezing ass in a fog spraying knapp weed ahead of this weeks potential 6 inches in high Montana. Then a return to the 60s next week. If I can ski to the bar Thursday I'll call it a successful turn teaser.

    YES !

I fly into Denver Saturday and head out to the mountains.

“The word 'yes' is just a sound. It's nothing without context. It can signal the end of a life, an exultation after a scored basket or a vanquished foe; it can answer questions or refute them; it's an affirmation.”

Temperature currently 48 and dropping 1 degree every 3 minutes. Clouds hit the deck about an hour ago. Forecast to hit 29 with 1" to 2" tonight.

Edit: Now saying 26 for the low tonight.
    Living vicariously through myself.
