Wow Jim, your guitars are totally beyond my comprehension. My hands turn to mush just looking at those photos ...
What's with the nylon string electric dealio? Internal pickups? What do you play on that?
And is that Larrivee the Koa wood Orchestra Model? Larrivees are some of the most gorgeous acoustic guitars I've ever seen._______________________________________________

Thanks. It's been almost 30 years that I've been playing and hoarding or whoring. I've tried to get instruments that sound and play wonderfull and then, lastly, are visually attractive in one vein or another.
The Larrivee is a J10KK all koa jumbo which is discontinued. It has a Trinity Western dual pup in it.
The nylon is a Sadowsky. It sounds like heaven and doesn't feedback at all.
I left these out, if you can believe:

I think Jim S has some disposable income.
Here's my guitar.
I've retrofitted it with PAF 57 pickups for a smoother jazzier tone. And rounded out the frets to eliminate fret buzz.
Play through a bunch of effects pedals, (envelope filter, wah, digital delay, overdrive,) into a Fender Deluxe Reverb.Last edited by extreeski; 07-17-2008 at 10:38 AM.

He wrote it himself, no ghost writer et cetera, or so the story goes. You have to remember he damaged a brain cell or two with all the drugs and alcohol. It is not high art, but it is an entertaining read and is a good lesson on why not to become an addict.
Now if Jim could just find a twelve step program for his addiction....

Current guitars & amps:

A bunch of stuff I had... Probably about 80 or so guitars & amps. About 1/3 of what I've owned. Pretty scary when I think about it...

My main horn:
Edwards b454 Bass Trombone
(Photo from www.edwards-instruments.com)
I don't remember all of the specs, but it's not quite what's pictured. I have a 10.5" brass bell, not rose, and a couple of thickness differences.
It looks more like this:

Wow, this topic was cool, now it just blows.
Jak and Jil skinned up the hill to rip some epic lines...
Jak cruised down throwing a huge mute 3...
Followed by Jil with a 9.

1980 Greco SG copy with 1978 Gibson T-Tops
'90s Fender Jazzmaster (I really want to get some P-90 like pickups for it and wire it like a Gibson)
I'm a bit of a DIYer so I modded my amp and build pedals. The amp is currently a Bassman first stage into a Traynor tone stack and power amp. I'm going to turn it into a switchable Bassman/JCM800 someday. Some of the pedals I've built: Distortion+, Big Muff, Rat, Phase 100, Orange Squeezer. I built my own speaker cabinet too with Vintage 30's.

Was thinking the same about my Paul Reed Smith Hollowbody II w/nice flamed top and separate piezo output. Sweet guitar, but I don't play it much anymore - having more fun with my $300 Regal dobro.

Michael Kelly, pretty much one step up from their lowest model. Little buzz on the G strings, hopefully new tailpiece is going to fix that...[lusting after a mandola...]

Nice to see a Mando in here - play any bluegrass or jazz? I've got a Martin D-28 and a few other acoustic guitars, a banjo, and right now there is a mandolin and a fiddle laying around the house (not ours, though). Maybe I'll get some pics up later.
Some really nice instrument stoke in here

Here's mine, a sunburst American Standard Fender Strat. Haven't played it much since high school after my rocker buddy/guitar mentor got sent away to boarding school for doing acid.
For sale if anyone is interested...

Not mine, my brothers, but I'm guessing there are a few Alembic fans out there.
Six string bass made from ebony, coco bolo, maple, purpleheart and vermilion. Abalone inlaid ovals, and mother of pearl inlaid on the body. It's is 100% custom and a true piece of artwork.
The biggest problem with this wine was that it had more wood put to it than Jenna Jameson.

Any of you ever play/become proficient on a seven strig guitar (extra low B string)? I fucked around with one the other day, it just felt...wrong. Is it just for metal solos?
