Swapping toe pieces on salomon bindings?
Can I swap the mechanical toe piece of a 912 binding onto an old 957 or 997 toe base plate? When I remove the toe pieces from the base plates (by unscrewing the toe height adjustment all the way), the posts that the toe peices mount to look identical. The base plates both have the same downward-pressure-release mechanism that pushes on the toe-piece pin, although the old 957s have the flat 'multicontol' afd and the 912s have the pivoting 'spheric' afd.
I want to swap them because I hate that pivoting spheric AFD on the 912s, and I've got some beat-up old 957s that I dont really trust to release any more, so I wonder if I could put them together to make one good pair of bindings.

Sweet, I've got them on there already, seems to work fine. Just wanted to check there's not some reason that its a bad idea or wont release properly. Thanks marsh.

Jesus Harold Christopher, you are insane!!!!
Well at least that solves the problem of the damn 91x AFD. Now if the wings would stop backing out...
