Retarded Question: How Big is an Average Bike Box?
So, I'm shipping a bike tomorrow, and I'm trying to estimate shipping charges on UPS.com. I'm thinking an average size box is about 36"x48"x8", but the cost doubles for a box that's only a bit biger (like 4'x4'x1').
Have a great time jonging me for asking a retarded question, but I'd honestly like to know how big an average size box for a 19" Mtn Bike is. I've shipped some bikes before, but I'm having a hard time picturing the box.
Thanks

differnt brands of bike come in differnt sized boxes.
are you paying for shipping? then cut the box smaller and spend some time.
if someone else is paying for shipping, call ups as is.

Thanks Mtn..
I'm paying for it. I'm thinking I might take the fork off, so I can fit it the smallest box I can.
FedEx looks way cheaper than UPS, and it's going from NM to Alberta....

fedex has always had the cheapest rates when I've shipped bikes. UPS wanted over $100 and fedex shippped for <$30. I'm not sure how usps is.

usps wont work, as it's going to Canada, I'm pretty sure the United States Postal Service won't deliver to Alberta.

The average of bike box sizes is somewhere around 56x8x26. UPS charges a bike box as a 70lb. package, even if it's only 30lbs. or whatever. Your best bet might be to get it boxed and shipped by a bike shop. If you package it yourself and take it to Mailboxes Etc. or whatever, they'll charge you a fee also unless you have an account. Might as well have a bike shop package it (make sure they do a good job, tell them you want to put some more stuff in it so don't tape it up), and a large bike shop with a regular UPS pickup should get you a better shipping rate than a UPS Store, just make sure you go to a good shop.
It's heartbreaking to see a chick who's too anorexic.
