Sci-Fi Ski Porn? Film extras needed @ Solitude: $125 a day
Yeah, I know, sounds beyond corny, but read on...
I got this by email from a friend who has a more significant role in the movie.
Anyone who signs up for this better post a TR...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joan Peterson is casting a movie for the Sci Fi Channel about
skiers under attack from giant spiders. It's called Ice Spider. The
auditions for prinicpal roles have already take place, but she needs 30-40
skiers-not actors- to do the featured extra and extra roles. This email is
for you and anyone you know that skis.
We need your help getting the word out but those interested should be
proficient enough to ski all of Solitude safely. If you can't parallel
please don't try to 'fake' it. There won't be a whole lot of handholding
onslope and she doesn't want anyone getting hurt.
It's a horror film - Jurassic park meets Park City?-and should be a lot of
fun. These Giant spiders that have been genetically brought back to life
and enhanced from prehistoric times break loose at a hidden mountain
facility by a ski resort and some innocent skiers get eaten by them.
All skiers will be paid about $125 a day (and be fed) and will work 4 to 8
days. You can wear your own clothes and gear. You probably won't be skiing
the whole day- just when they need you so you can bring a chair, magazines,
books, etc, and hang out in the spring sun.
If you are interested and/or know other skiers who might be, please contact
Joan ASAP. They are casting this weekend. The film begins shooting on
Wednesday and will shoot for 3 weeks but she isn't sure yet which days
they'll use you. I'm not sure what days they are on the mountain and need
the skiers, but she should know by Monday.
Joan's email contact is joan (at) starlightcreativemedia.com and her phone number is 801.509-3699.
If you're interested, calling would probably be better than email, since the deadline is this weekend.

hmmmm....this is just crazy enough that it might work.
I'd kill to get some days in, I assume they'll be turning the lifts for it.

Damn, this would be so much fun. Even better to sit around with a crew and watch the finished film with the requsite beers and .. uh .. stuff to "enhance" the experience. If only I were close to Solitude! Damn.
The snow doesn't give a soft white damn whom it touches.

Would I really be under attack from large Ice Spiders? I don't know if I'd do that for $125 /day. Frogs and rabbits? Yes. Spiders? No.

Yeah, Spiders could be a deal-breaker.

I would do this in a heartbeat if I were in the area. I've always wanted to be an extra in a movie AND I'm the target audience for these stupid "large insects threaten society" movies. I love that stuff (no joke).
how fun!!!“Within this furnace of fear, my passion for life burns fiercely. I have consumed all evil. I have overcome my doubt. I am the fire.”

Do they make you drop acid first?
edgDo you realize that you've just posted an admission of ignorance so breathtaking that it disqualifies you from commenting on any political or economic threads from here on out?

We sent her a email, we'll let you guys know how it goes.
I hate spiders, but I love skiing, so it should balance out.
Thanks for the heads-up RB

wow...125 a day? That's nearly twice what I'd make an hour. I'd totally do it. Even with the spiders.

PS: I really hope someone or a few people hook up with this, it sounds like relatively easy money, and kinda fun work, though in general being an extra is more of a pain than a pleasure...

The day before snowmass opened this year I was a skiing extra for a Dunkin Doughnuts comercial. It was great to get paid to sit in the sun, eat endless killer food, and get some awesome powder skiing in before the lifts opened.
Some mags should jump on this...

Sounds pretty sweet. I sent her an Email and gave a ring. MD9 may get in on it as well.

First the Grinch, now Ice Spiders. Solitude may get a rep.
There is a difference though between Jim Carrey/Ron Howard and a B horror flick.

Am I crazy or does this sound like it has the potential to be a show about maggots invading Solly with a few spiders thrown in?
Thanks once again, RB, for the heads up on something cool!

I'm terrified of spiders. Sounds like fun though.....
This touchy-feely Kumbaya shit has got to go.
