So I have a question for those who have had a dog and got another later in its life. My roommates dog is around 8, always was super stoked on fetch, came when it was called, listened. So I got a collie lab mix from the shelter about three months ago and she just turned one. Both seemed to get along just fine, no fighting or anything and respected each other's space. Jack, the older pooch, has never been a fan of other dogs but tolerates them. Recently, he has been acting super weird. Yelping or crying when someone opens a door, stands up, or sometimes just petting him. I think it's psychological as I've applied pressure to different parts of his body with the same results. Roommate says he's gonna take him to the vet if he doesn't get better but his behavior has changed as well. He doesn't come when called, won't bring his ball back playing fetch, and is always seeking attention when in the past he enjoyed being by himself. Kinda adopting the behaviors of my dog Roka, who I'm still training but loves attention and isn't the best at bringing her frisbee back yet. Any thoughts? I take them out on walks and play fetch with them together regularly. Jack isn't limping, and besides the random welp/whimper seems pain free. Roka does now try and play with him, honestly I think jack just doesn't understand it and Roka just ends up licking his ear for a good minute which is pretty funny. Any advice is appreciated,
This is very anecdotal, however I had a shepard/wolf mix who was a great dog and had similar symptoms. He would just yelp/whine in very random situations after never having done that. He ended up having a growth over his eye that became noticeable after a few months. Ended up being a brain tumor and had to put him down at 4yrs old. Like I said, not saying in any way that this is the case but he was a perfect dog and the symptoms were very random until the lump was visible. He was also around a new dog in the house which compounded his diagnosis. Good looking pup btw. Funny thing is my husky gets mistaken for a wolf more than my shepherd who was over a 1/4 wolf

I don't know. That dog appears to be harmless. Just checking out that kitten maybe in a too aggressive way...hard to see exactly what was going on. The guy was pulling back on the leash once it seemed too aggressive knowing it wouldn't really hurt the kitten. If it was really an 'attack' that kitten would have been munched...and the mom too. Now I'm not saying I would let my dog do any of that, but that is a bad camera angle.

First rule of walking your dog on-leash: ALWAYS BE AWARE OF POTENTIAL TROUBLE COMING FROM PEOPLE, OTHER DOGS OR ANYTHING THAT YOUR DOG WILL INSTINCTIVELY CHALLENGE/ATTACK. File this under LEASH AGGRESSION

Not that this is actually an example of leash aggression, but if DB owner was following the first rule, he would have been in a position to avoid the near mayhem. But, being a DB (thug?) he may have actually purposefully allowed his dog to go after the kitten, in which case he should be flayed alive and dipped in vinegar.

    Doggie stoke

Our neighbors rescued this old gent after their beagle died. His name is Doug. So chill. He came for a visit tonight. Our dogs love him. Click image for larger version.

Our first dog, Elwood (the black one) has some major fear and anxiety issues. We fostered Sassy from a local rescue and she seemed to help him get over some of his fear and reactivity related to men, so we ended up keeping her. They get along great and don't sit still very often. She's even good at staying with the pack when hiking off leash!

    Poor thing

After we went to pick him up the vet assistant asks if we'd "like to take the organ"? I must have affected a pretty confused face because she reaches over and try's top pass me the plate.

I said, no thanks, Why would I want to take his balls? She said that a majority of people do. Which was shocking to me.

What do y'all do with them?

Gf and I are fostering this guy from the humane society for the holiday. Get back from dinner and take him out, soon realize he's pissing on my leg. All good though, he's a sweetheart. Only 1 I think. Needs all kinds of training.

He also runs into shit, but seems to have healthy looking eyes. Very kind pup, maybe he has dyslexia or something? Not even kidding, he has awful spatial skills, where most dogs are usually good on the feet.
