Do Mormons really affect you?
I just came back from SLC and I had the best time. So much so that I am considering moving out that way. While I was out there I didn't feel that I saw or was affected by anything Mormon. Maybe some different beer laws but nothing to stupid. I was just wondering, after hearing all the negative things about Utah and it's Mormons, and after not really seeing it, does it affect you SLC maggots or is it barely noticeable?

You might want to do a search on "SLC- Utah, moving" this has been rehashed to the death.
Its more than beer here. Its about education, lack of separation between church & state, oppressive gov, neighbors that wont let your kids play with their kids, nasty republicans, weird changes in dates of holidays, no SNL on NBC. Its getting better however, and the real estate market is hot, so you best make a decision soon.Points on their own sitting way up high

You have no idea how oppressive it is here! Sometimes when I wake up in the morning i look outside to make sure i'm not in nazi germany. It is insane, the cops are constantly harrassing me for no good reason. Why, just this morning I was driving my subie with the pot leaf window decals, legalize it bumper sticker and dancing acid bears and the cops pulled me over for nothing! Said i had a busted tail light. Fuckers.
And don't even get me started on the beer thing. I can't even enjoy real beer, instead of having to drink 6 beers to get buzzed, i need seven!@! The horror.
I went to a job interview this morning and the guy had the nerve to ask me how my weekend was. I knew what he was getting at, he wanted to know if I went to church. I said "fuck you, you mormon". I know i won't get that job cause i'm not a mo.
I know i don't have any representation in the local government so i don't even bother to get involved or vote.
In short the oppressiveness of mormon utah is ruining my life.

Is this true? It currently wouldn't be an issue, but if the show got good again, I'd want to be able to see it.

Mormon guys ask me out. Maybe it's that 'exotic/forbidden' thing.
I'm just a simple girl trying to make my way in the universe...
I come up hard, baby but now I'm cool I didn't make it, sugar playin' by the rules
If you know your history, then you would know where you coming from, then you wouldn't have to ask me, who the heck do I think I am.

They keep coming to my freakin' house! We just don't answer the door, but I am getting sick of them.

04-03-2006, 10:18 AM #21It's because my wife was raised mormon as a child, and they have "records" of her, but what creeps me out is they know my name too. The one time I talked to them I told them I was catholic and they were like "really? well, do you want to come see our new building?" I was just like ".....no......" THey won't get the hint.
