Pretty hard for me to read this thread and not get choked up. Those were some great looking Elkhounds Willie. Finishing up my cup of coffee and then time to walk my two down to the beach.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Tonight dispatch got a call from a dog owner whose dog had fallen off probably a 100ft cliff. The girl was audibly distraught, and had left her boyfriend with the dog while she went somewhere with cell service to call for help. The boyfriend eventually made it down to the dog, but unfortunately he had already expired. Responders from the Sheriff's Office, SAR, and the Victim's Advocates Office are assisting the owner in recovering the dog's body.

Not exactly the feel-good story of the week, but I'm glad that there was somebody there to help this couple through what must be a very difficult experience. I have no children, but two fur-kids that I love dearly and would be devastated to lose. Not going to pass judgement on the decisions or actions that lead to the pup's death; just hope the response provides some comfort for the dog's owners who are probably judging themselves harshly enough already.

FWIW, everyone responding did so voluntarily, and not as an "official response" so I hope folks don't start piling on about wasting valuable resources, or needlessly placing responders at risk.

ETA: Incredible thread btw. Condolences to all those who have posted here.

Less than a week from the solstice and it's snowing in UT. Juneuary?

This ol dog had a couple teeth pulled a few days ago. The stitches must not hurt much, 'cause he's back to noshing tennis balls.

Just a dog growled at me as I was picking him up from my father-in-law's this morning. He was sleeping with him and had growled at my brother-in-law earlier too. Just a dog is very protective of the old man. His wife just died. Of course he was also wagging and whining for attention on top of growling. Just a dog is a loyal, lovable retard.

Saturday night I put down a family member after 15 years. Was so hard to do but it had to be done. She was so out of it for so long and it should have been done long ago but we didn't want to let go. I still feel so bad doing it. Two members in two years just sucks. Sasha, you will be missed always.

A girl I know just left her boyfriend, doesn't work much, 1 year old boy. just to paint a picture ...

her dog needs both knees op'ed on. acl pcl ??? and it has hip displacier ... or howev its spelt.
$4,000 per knee includes rehab. in a town 2hours away.
apparently the hips will come good after teh surgery ... ??? I hear more $$$
3 year old lab cross big dog untrained retard.

so I wonder ... will the stupid dog allow the surgery to heal? its a big powerful male dog ...
$8g minimum ... is a dog worth this when you live in a motel and hope to move into a trailer, and a 1 year old boy?
    I can't see it happening.

she has been asking for donations on facebook ...

the dog does have visible knee and back issues ...
We, the RATBAGGERS, formally axcept our duty is to trigger avalaches on all skiers ...

Well.....I hope people have enough spare change laying around to help the pouch, as that is a lot of cash to help out your best friend. What is the page so I can help?

Sitting across from me is a dog with a sharp mind and strong will in a very tired body. Knew it was coming but always thought it would be next year.

Bobby I don't know how many times you've been through this, I have a lot and it sucks but when you're doing the right thing it doesn't suck as much and pretty soon you feel good that you stepped up even though you felt like a murderer when you did it.

So hang in there man. the situation will improve.

Just a dog will live forever in your mind.

Trying tramadol tonight. The nods seem to have replaced the pacing and panting, No interest in food for nearly three days. Her mind is still all there which makes this suck even worse.

Damn Mazderati, I am sorry to hear that is where you are at. Once Shadow needed that, I had to put him to sleep within a week, as I could see his pain and there was no getting better. Vibes to you and your dog. I hate the end, but all the years together more than make up for it. Take care.

Oh mate so sorry to hear that. The heartbreak of losing them is the price we pay for having them in our lives. It's just such a damn shame they live at x7 our pace ......or maybe that's how they can show so much love.

    My best to your family.
