Blanket Glacier Chalet 2/28- 3/4 TR

Here is a Tr and some photos from our week @ the Blanket Glacier Chalet.
The Mrs, another couple from Slc and I flew into Calgary and drove to Revelstoke. Sat. morning we met up at the lz, a farm along the Columbia.

The Chalet is ~a 15min flight so by 2:00pm we were out touring. It had snowed about a meter the past 3 days and conditions were nice at the start of the tour.

The weather changed as a strong wind and snow started.
Sun. Morning there was a fresh 32cm and it pretty much dumped allday. We headeded for some steep trees in an area called the Monster.
We did 3 2000'+ laps before calling it a day.

Mon. morning and another 26cm of fresh although it was heavier snow.
We retuned to the same area to take advantage of the uptrack and snow stability that the trees offered.

The snows stopped that night but started up again tues morn. We skinned a couple of hours out to Xmass land for some more steep & sheltered trees.

Weds finally some sun. PowderPond and I had had enough yo yoing trees so we set out to try and summit Blanket Peak. After about 5 hours of leave no trace skinningand trying to change aspects we made it to the notch a few hundred ft. shy of the peak.

When the highlight of you tour is an acid flashback daydream of a "Mothership" Cloud coming down, you know maybe this wasn't the best use of your time. This was reaffermed back at the chalet as others had found the goods in the trees off the $1,000,000 run.

After a few thousand feet of wind buffed westayed out late and made a few laps along the cliffs in front of the chalet.
Thurs we awoke to a few more cm of snow and a partly sunny day.We headed S up to Castor And Pollax peaks.

Note that CMH Monashees shares that area too but they're pretty good about staying away and not overflying.

Here is a few more pics worth posting
    Sun dog

    Alpenglow

    and a few of me

I wasn't in this area but it kind of looks like this caribou is deficating in the CMH lz.

As LL said the chalet and CMH have a pretty good working relationship. They are in radio contact and make a real effort not to overfly or ski the same terrain.
