What are the temps like around & about?
It was -23 deg. celcius (-9.4 f) at my house this morning. I stepped out of the house and my boots stuck to the concrete with each step. My truck was frozen to the driveway.

Minus 8 on my walk to work this morning...didn't stop Paco from jumping in the river, though.

Still holding tight around -30c here today. Third or fourth day straight of it. I don't like it. Altough my new down Marmot jacket is doing a stellar job.
It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

- 28 C in Fort St John plus windchill. I flew in from Vancouver this morning and our plane overnighted in Kelowna last night and their water froze at the airport so their was no bathroom service on the plane. It also took them a half an hour to start the plane so we were late as hell. The locks on the baggage compartments froze and they couldn't get them to shut so they had to turn these massive heaters on the side of the plane to get them to lock.
They are talking about rolling power blackouts in the Kootenays because of record power consumption for heating. Cominco cut their lead zinc production by 1/3 to conserve power for the general public.

Mine do that and I just yell, "Quit acting like a cat!" at the door and then threaten to send them to Revlon.

01-12-2004, 10:41 AM #18No rolling blackouts but Nelson had a blackout last Sunday (4th). It was caused by a HV cable termination comming apart and falling to ground at the Bonnington substation. The flash was seen in both Castlegar and Nelson. The BANG was heard in Nelson. The flash must have lit up the vally like daylight to bee seen that far up & down a twisting valley.Originally posted by JR

Yah We had one the night before too. It happened just as Tina and I were getting ready to cook our "last supper". Somehow appropriate. Thanks for busting trail to the top of the rebound that day. That day showed me the girls true colors and somehow made the whole situation a whole lot easier to deal with. Still a bummer to see 7 years go up in smoke.Originally posted by Beaver
