How do the ants feel vs. the 103? I imagine a little snappier and lighter b/c there's no metal in the Ants?
Life is a lot like climbing: there isn't anything much more comforting than a good #2.
-
02-20-2006, 11:16 AM #34You're right on. ANTs are much lighter and poppier/livelier/snappier.

Does anyone think its crazy to want to ski the ANT's as an everyday ski, at only 135lbs?
-
02-20-2006, 11:53 AM #36FYI, I'm 190ish and it's plenty stable for me. I'd suggest getting on them before you comit to them as it may be alot of ski for you.

02-20-2006, 12:02 PM #37Yes. You should see if they'll make a 193 for you.

Just curious on real feedback.

late to the game here
i am a happy ANT owner as well. tho i blew my knee about a month ago so now my pair is collecting dust. they only saw about 10-15 days this season but the more time i put on them the more i got to digging them. i wasn't in the best shape comming into this season and the ANT's kicked my ass for the first while. they were riding me more than i was riding them. then i got stronger and the ski broke in a little bit.
visicous is pretty much dead on. it's a big ski but works everywhere well and you get used to it. there is no speed limit (well i didn't find one at least) and they are stable as hell. this comming from a guy who is 6'3", 220lbs and has a strong race background.
i moved from a pistol to the ANT so there was a big change ski to ski. the pistol was butter for me - i could make it do whatever - the ANT, not so much. it took me a while to figure out how to make the ANT work right, but i was sure as hell getting there, then my knee went pop!
for mounting i ended up drilling mine at the line or 7cm back of chord center if you measure them up. i plan to re-mount em 9cm back. 7 gave me a bunch of tip dive in deep pow. i didn't mind having the tail back there, but the tip dive was no fun. i imagine that with more days the dive would get better as they continued to soften up.
Brian The Bold - i think the ANT would hand your ass back to you in a brown bag with your name on it. really! it's a lot of ski even for a big dude like me... or i'm just a total pussy

02-20-2006, 09:52 PM #41Too late...The wheels are already in motion! I guess I could probally be convienced to buy some Prophet 100's at 186, but I really want to ride some ANTs, even if they may kill me.

02-20-2006, 09:54 PM #43you will be fine. But at your weight, a ski like that will DEMAND you stay forward. My big daddies punish me when i get back, but now mid season.....that doesnt happen much anymore. I am 6'3 175 on a real good day...
