Weight of Seth Vicious - 189 & 179
Just curious if anyone knows the weight of the 189 & 179 SV. I've searched the forum and everywhere else I could on the web and in print gear guides -- I can find the weight of just about any other pair of boards, but for some reason I cannot find the weight of these.
Thanks!

According to my bathroom scale, a pair of unmounted 189 SV is 9.5lb. Weighed them three times, got the same result each time.

I have both. I can't give you exact numbers but I don't think they are very heavy. Lighter than my Leg Pros but heavier than my Explosiv

I'd say they definitely fall into the "heavy" category.

02-15-2006, 08:11 PM #7Hey, Jim: This might be too much work (and it might be irrelevant if they have different bindings on them)...but could you do a 'bathroom scale' test and tell me what the difference is?

Hey, Jim:
One other question: What length are your LPs and Explosivs!
This is helping me to hone in on the weight.

02-15-2006, 09:16 PM #9OK, my scale is digital and recalibrates every time it is turned on. So I measured out a gallon of water and weighed it. It came out to 7.5. So I restarted it and the gallon came out to 8.5lb. Next restart the gallon came out to 8lb. So, I weighed the skis with this calibration and they came out to 10.5lb. That should be pretty accurate...

10.5 unmounted? Yikes!!!
Thanks for doing that.
If your scale is calculating a gallon of water at 8.0 (actual weight = 8.33 + the container) would mean the 10.5 could actually be a low estimate!
Does your scale only measure in increments of 0.5 pounds?

I'm sorry man, I don't have a bathroom scale. Never have.
My LPs are the 186 and my Exploders are 180.Every man dies. Not every man lives.

If you find a more reliable weight for the 189s I would be interested in knowing. I did a little poking around on the internet and came up with nothing. I thought that was kind of strange, so now I'm curious.

02-15-2006, 11:25 PM #13Thanks! That gives me a frame of reference. I have a pair of 180 Exlosivs, so it's an easy comparison to make.

02-16-2006, 10:05 AM #19Thanks, L.S.B: That would put the 179 Set at about 9.3 pounds for the pair.

Never realized how similar the Hippy is to the SV....wow. Lower price makes me wonder if that's the way to go...
