Frostbite under toenail?
I've got frostbite underneath the nail of my big toe, it's entering the purple/black stage of rotting flesh.
Do I: a) leave it alone b) wait for it to get really nasty and prick w/ needle c) rip toenail off now or d) go see a doctor?
I'm concerned as it appears the nail isn't going to let the dead flesh naturally fall off.

sounds more like you have bruised your toe nail bed and the purple/black stuff you are seeing is really blood and not rotting flesh.
But if you really think it is frostbite unde your nail by all means go see your doc. If it is really painful you can go have it drained, which will release some of the pressure and make it feel and look better. Chances are you will lose that nail though.fighting gravity on a daily basis

Thanks Vinman, it's not hucknail -- its completely numb. My toe's appearance is growing more ominous by the hour, so I think I'm going to see an MD.
