What a fucking laugher. Tremblant on strike
Yep. Tremblant is officially dead. Employees are walking out Saturday. Intrawest's plans are to close the mtn. Only refunds are being given for prepayed lift tickets. Season pass holders are fucked.
Bunch of stupid fuckers bringing even more bad karma here. We'll I guess I won't miss much when I go into the hospital New Years Day.

I tried to find some information on this through google, not much luck. Do you have any other sources? I would like to find out what exactly Intrawest is pulling, also just how serious this is.

why in all hell would they close Tremblant? it consistently gets ratings for best in the east, or at least in the top 5 for everything.

I don't know the particulars of this situation, but it sounds like Tremblant staff are unionized. If that's the case, there's little hope for Intrawest to get rid of it aside from closing up shop. Shitty situation if this is all true.
I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just gonna ask them where they're goin' and hook up with 'em later.

Employees from three large federations, representing a number of unions, have staged a series of rotating strikes in Quebec during the past few weeks. The largest was in Montreal on Tuesday, when 80,000 people took to the streets in protest.

Station Mont-Tremblant deplores this weekend's 24-hour union-imposed work stoppage
Mont-Tremblant, December 15th, 2005 – Station Mont Tremblant learned this afternoon, regretfully, that the union is preparing a work stoppage this weekend, from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday.
Senior management at Station Mont-Tremblant are upset that the union has resorted to drastic means while discussions are underway, yet they still remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached before Christmas.
An unfortunate situation for skiers and vacationers
Station Mont-Tremblant will do everything possible to satisfy guests who have reservations this weekend. We are asking that skiers not show up on Saturday, in order to avoid a disappointing situation. Meanwhile, if all goes according to plan, we will be welcoming skiers on Sunday morning, as usual.
Many company departments are mobilizing to offer services on the mountain. The slopes will be open, as well as the hotels. Restaurants, shops, and businesses in Tremblant village will be operating as usual. Our Snow School and Childcare Services will be closed on Saturday. For up-to-the-minute information, please visit our website at: www.tremblant.ca.
We hope that this situation is temporary, and that the union will negotiate a winning agreement for salaries, for the company, and consequently, for the entire region.

Very nice, first major snowfall of the season in Montreal, Tremblant on strike. Mind you the snow appears to not be heading that way. Road trip time.
