    Unhappy $trigger =~ m/^unpulled$/i

after a week of excitement my new head monster 103's got here from backcountry.com. Much fondling and admiring ensued with the only ski i pulled out of plastic.

finally my wife told me i was giving too much attention to the one ski and should unwrap the other ski. a couple minutes later howls of anguish racked bozeman as i noticed the second ski had a damaged tail. the tail was crushed like my heart and had begun to delaminate.

'No problem' the helpful dirtbag at backcountry.com said, 'just mail them back to us and we'll get another pair out to you.' I had thought i had bought the last pair of 193's but they were showing a pair in stock. Sweet! Someone must have returned a pair. Well, turns out they are out of 193's so all i get is my money back.

the only good part of this story is i think i may have a new job that gives me a 35% increase in pay. so i may be riding the supermojo's instead. but probably not from backcountry.com.

Could you have sent them into warranty and gotten a brand-new pair of Super Mojos out of the deal?

M103's w/P14's can be had for about $500 on eBay.

That is a darn good idea. I'd try this first.

baseWeldr, i tried that, they did, and they apparently don't have even one.

Slim, I thought of the warranty angle, but i can't imagine Head would do anything besides tell me to return them to the retailer. I have the Head number so I'll give them a call tomorrow.

Darkside, i saw those on ebay, but i dont have the cash right now (my landlord likes getting paid EVERY month. bastard.) maybe if that auction is still around in a week or so I can swing it.

You should PM one of the backcountry.com people that are on the board and ask them what to do...they might be more helpful than the person you talked to on the phone....

That seller has a website, which kind of sucks, but if you call the number on there and ask, they'll probably sell you just the skis. I noticed last winter they were packaging skis with Rossi 140s for $150 more than the skis alone. So I called, just wanting the binders, and they took my card over the phone. Shipping was cheap. They're legit.
