Only knew his name via Blister but condolences to friends and family. And to his partners who dug him out quickly & appeared to do all they could. https://crestedbuttenews.com/2024/02...lanche-sunday/

I'm still trying to process that he's gone as he was one of many familiar faces that I'd randomly bump into around the Gunnison Valley, always with a big grin on his face.

We didn't ski or bike a ton together, but we were in the same social circle and spent a lot of time around each other. He was like family to many of my friends, and I feel for them in a way that I'm having trouble putting together.

One memorable experience with Eric was when we rafted the Gunnison Gorge when the Blue Mesa was over the spillway, summer 2014 I believe? It was my first time rafting big water like that and it was wild, but being with a solid crew made it a little less scary. It was one of those days that Freson strapped on the go pro, so we knew shit was about to get real.

Aw Man, just saw the first pics from their trip yesterday, was looking forward to more. So shitty. Sorry to you, and all of us. And I hope all their people and partners find peace.

Man what a tragedy. I only knew Eric a little bit, he lives in my neighborhood. Sad I'll never have a chance to know him more. My heart aches for those close to him, his dog, his family. Just a hurricane of grief and emotions, a piece of your heart just torn out. Some of us have been through these kinds of events before, and they are hell to get through.

Really makes one step back and contemplate the purpose of life - our time here is limited and you'll never know what day is your last. Seems like Eric lived life to the fullest in many ways, and had a very strong network of friends. He is the definition of community in a mountain town. What an immense loss.

Dammit. All time awesome human. You will be greatly missed by everyone who ever crossed paths with you.

Much love to the group, and thank you for doing everything possible in an impossible situation.
