Movie Soundtracks That Make You Time Travel

Back in the day, seemed that almost every film came packaged with some great song that was meant to go top of the pop charts. Often times, some of these randomly just sneak into my head out of the blue where it gets stuck there on an earworm loop, so I queue it up on my stereo and bam! I'm instantly transported back to my youth or a particular moment in my past. There are WAY too many to list in one go, so I'll just get this party started and add as I think of them. Post up your favorite movie tracks!!!

    Let's begin:

From Roger Moore's For Your Eyes Only, title track by Sheena Easton (warning, typical classic Bond intro mildly NSFW - geez I miss these... sigh...)

From Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome. "We Don't Need Another Hero" by Tina Turner:

From Lynch's Dune. "Take my Hand" by Toto

This happens to me with ski movies. Like any time I hear ELO's Don't Bring Me Down, I think of Petit's segment in Attack of La Nina.

Same goes for Fugazi / Waiting Room and Mike Douglas' segment in Yearbook (couldn't find a video of that one).

Man, always thought Carly Simon knocked it out of the park with the Spy Who Loved Me's "Nobody Does It Better." Bam! Right in the feels.

Always hated it when that song would pop in my head after breaking up with a girl I wasn't over (and we both loved doing Bond marathons together)

Ms Simon’s joint was the theme song to The Spy Who Loved Me (Duran Duran did the theme song for A View To A Kill, though imho the producers should have gotten Grace Jones to do that one…).

That is one of my favorite Bond movie theme songs, though!

Okay, so I am failing the assignment by mentioning a score as opposed to a soundtrack, but in terms of transporting me elsewhere, I have always been partial to Ennio Morricone’s score to The Mission

Hell yes! Can't believe that was 1984! Timeless soundtrack where Collins brought the feels for real. SUCH a great theme song!

No doubt! Morricone's Mission score is utterly magnificent. Scores are definitely allowed for this thread!!! Speaking of film scores, basically ANYTHING by Vangelis transports me to times past and future alike...

    See: Blade Runner OST

Or how about his music he did for Cosmos?!!!

Can't forget Chariots of Fire tho

One of the songs that was HUGE at the time and really is a great tune in it's own right was Madonna's "Live to Tell" from At Close Range (1986). Always takes me back. Not the movie so much, but the song. Haha. Was on the radio all the time, along with SO many other movie tracks, like so many things by Kenny Loggins.

Anybody else remember the OST from St. Elmo's Fire? Man, this takes me back!

    John Parr's "Man in Motion"

& the so-called "Love Theme" by David Foster
