I did wash both cars on Friday...

I'm not sure that's a chicken dinner I want to eat.

Washed my car on Friday and I’m taking the snow tires off today. Forecast for the next week shows no need for them, then I’m off to UT, then family obligations for Easter… before I know it, it’s already April.

yup. i didn't even set my alarm last hight. half-ass plans fizzled with a 9:30 wake-up. a day of coffee-fueled work and leisure.

made more sense to get first bike ride of the year.

the better to get used to it

what's the difference between march '20 and march '24?

we can't blame covid for this early end of operations.

    ffwiw:
last year was saved on march 13.

josh fox says there will be no more sustained cold in the NE this season ; any upcoming snows will be fleeting, heavy, and altitude dependent.

me: hoping that josh missed this call too

Hard to motivate this morning but it was my turn to drive. Foggy all the way to the access road. First hour was a mix of sun and fog. Then nice warm sunny morning of spring skiing. MRV cleared out nicely. Champlain valley was socked in and is still overcast.

Not to add stoke to a pity party, but today was day 40 on snow for my three-year-old. Daycare ski lessons kick ass, and she's now perfectly capable of skiing dark greens so long as she chooses to turn--on the second run, she wanted to ski the top without a leash, then we got to the steeper part and she wanted me to hold her leash. Then it's kinda like a game of chicken, because she *will* turn when she decides she needs to but that's usually a little faster and a little closer to obstacles then I'd pick. She wasn't too happy about getting caught by a pile and spun around, but she did make some good turns after that until she ran out of energy.

Two-year-old was too tired to actually ski; he made the three turns from the lodge down to the lift, insisted on going up, and then almost immediately after getting off says, "carry me."

Trying to ski before nap time apparently needs to be first thing in the morning for these two, but I was working at that point.

Most excellent stoke on the kiddos on skis AnotherVTskibum

Realized I was counting wrong this is my sixteeth year on skis. At least one day in Maine every one of them. One of my earliest memories was a complete ski package from sears and roebuck package showing up a month before my third birthday. I was out on snow but it was my year three or four winter I really started skiing. Little place with a rope tow and tbar. No adult could refuse a four yo towhead asking to ride the tbar. Treasure the years

Blog off. Was planning to go to Pinkham tomorrow and just saw this/ wowzer. Taking my wife’s six points for the hike up

What is this ski daycare you speak of?

Is this the 'daycare' available at most resorts?

The one at the local resort in particular. I don't know if they have enough staffing to do lessons on weekends, but the kids who attend full time and meet the age requirements get to go a few times each week.
