First time in a long while the ten day forecast holds some promise. Not that it is wise to put much hope on ten days out, but at least it is something. Happy New Year one and all!!!

Guns were blasting all day at Magic. It’s 18° at the base right now so should continue to pound all night.

bonne année!
lotsa chunks of meat, not so many veges, only one kind of beans in sutton's chili, says the wife. maybe a bit too liquid
decent tomato soup, had some curly mofo rotini... of course, that is their m.o. nothing amazing, but would have it again.
chili at owl's head much more solid and with mutliple bean varieties! bonus, there's a parmasean shaker at la soupiére
nice cauliflower soup, not too thin, had a nice bit of punch to 'er. the included roll is a nice touch.

Jay was crazy this past weekend, skied a handful of laps on Saturday only - it was firm and fast, definitely edge-able but the crowds were wild mid-day. no wind tho, so we had a great time tailgating in the parking lot. fingers crossed on the long range forecast over the next week or so, let's get the guns blazin' and pow factory churnin'.

It's a tradition (this will be year 12 I think) that on my birthday, or the closest Plattekill operating day, I buy a round for the house. Anyone with a lift ticket or pass, plus patrol and mtn ops gets a beer, if they are in the bar, when I head in for the day.
Monday I'm turning 65(!) and Sunday I am buying a round. This is the last year of this tradition as I will be retired next year and in no position to be doing stupid shit.
So come on out to ski in Roxbury. Should be a fun day. As always.NYSB: NYSkiBlog.com
