if the Points North Heli Ski Operation had their Explosivs ordered in a softer version?
I read here long ago that the CMH Explosivs are somewhat softer than the "off the shelf" Explosiv.

Not that i know shit about nothing, but wasn´t there in the old explosiv threads that the cmh´s were a bit stiffer and had their mounting point further back than the rest?
And the Wizards used different resin,so they delamed easier,and..and..and...

There should be some kind of Le Factbook about theese skis.

I guess you should page Moutainlion for this.

Of the note, it´s funny how this ski has caused so much talk.
Especially here in europe, even if völkl is a old continent company, people come and poke you if you are wearing those things.
Personally,i have seen one pair for sale in chamonix.
To my inquiry about the price, the salesman said in bad english "Noo noo, dei not for sale.End season i bai dem.Yes?"

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

To my knowledge, Points North has the "regular" Explosiv plus a plastic tip protector.

The factory boys absolutely hated making Explosivs - that's why they were always the last model to arrive in the US in any given year - so I severely doubt that they would embrace the notion of making multiple versions (not including graphics, they're easy) in the same production run.

For those curious, the factory workers hated them because the Explosiv molds were built in '93 from retrofitted snowboard molds that operated differently than the ski molds they usually use. This became especially cumbersome after we built the new factory in 2000. The Explosiv was the only ski that couldn't go through "regular" production.

Maybe what I thought I read, actually meant the CMHs were being sold used and therefore the flex was softened up...don't know..it's a blur and i'm not doing another search...
    Thanks squaretail.

    cmh exploder

The cmh skis were new factory made as I bought a pair two years ago in wrappers. They don't seem that soft especially compared to my bc K2 Launchers which are soft flexing classics.

Square does this explain the reasoning behind going to the Mantra
For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

I guess it does in part, but considering the Explosiv had a 10-year run, it was time for change anyway.

The Mantra had been in development for quite a while.

was gone for a few days

CMH skis usually are softer, but I think that is beacuse they are used, not new when most people flex them. SHOULD be the same flex to the "stock" ones.

mounting point has been played with over the years (boot center vs toe mount) so that is why I think some of the CMH's are "back" of center

I'd try to ski them and find the center point that YOU like. The heli daddies I like to ski 2cm back of the center point, because the tip is soft and the tail stiff.
