I don't know. Maybe they can read pine cones like fortune tellers read tea leaves?

About an hour ago I saw a squirrel climbing a tree with a pine cone in Stateline. Cone was half eaten.

I'm with Vets thinking that groundhogs predict weather better than squirrlz.

OK, how about this--my neighbor has put up his snow poles already.
One thing I know for sure--the date on which the new thread drops has zero value in predicting the season.

I can't help but notice that humans are awful about predicting weather. There was the infamous KOLO incident where an announcer complained about shoveling 6" of "partly sunny". Squirrels (and rabbits) can only do better. Then again an old-ish Washoe saying was that they knew winter was coming when the white men started stacking wood. Wood is being stacked.

I'm stacking wood early this year. I'm hoping for another banger. It's been such a strange summer. I could see it going either way. This summer has reminded me of the summers when I was a kid. Back when it snowed a ton.

It’s the season for finding lost stix.
I found one up on SRB early July. Posted here, Truckee People FB, and San Francisco Backcountry Skiers FB. I also went around to all the shops. So far nobody has claimed it.

Depending on the length, width, and BSL of your find we might be able to make a Frankenpair…

    Or a coupla shot skis…

    My owner sent it
    Thought he could fly
    But his landings are suspect
No matter how hard he tries
    I jettisoned off
When he touched down in pow
And I’ve waited for him to find me
It must be two years now
    If he ever sees this
    After these couple years
I’m pretty sure he owes Gaffney
    A six pack of beers
    or don't

All these years behind the camera and it turns out THIS is your gift.

Not-kidding idea: let's do a series of kids (and dorky adults) books. You write them, Max Miller illustrates...make them all GNAR points based tales?

I’ve creeped over Sonora Pass in a blizzard on the Friday night of Labor Day weekend. It was fun.
