Johnson needs to do the needful, or eat shit and die; his choice.

Listened to some thinktankers again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_PFkylATXk Council on Foreign Relations
Takeaways:
1. There seems a general lack of military thinking among these folks. In particular, none seem to recognize that Ukraine's "counteroffensive" was highly likely to fail due to inadequate supplies. 30 tanks and no airforce is not a winning recipe. Nor do they recognize the need to cut Russian supply lines.
2. EU is discussing whether they need nuclear deterrence. Germany also (!). *
3. Many NATO nations are increasing defense budgets to 2%. And questioning if they need a EU alliance separate from NATO
4. Europe at the moment is more on board with Ukraine's defense than America
* on the nuke topic. Peter Zeihan (not always accurate) says today that a 1GW commercial reactor produces in a year enough waste plutonium for a half-dozen bombs. And that many Euro countries have civilian fuel production programs. So they have the parts.

Seems like the Avdiivka retreat was badly executed. Hard to second guess when Russia just throws thousands of bodies at you while raining down thousands of rounds of artillery that Ukraine can't match.
https://www.yahoo.com/news/chaotic-r...185817824.html
Hundreds of Ukrainian troops may have been captured by advancing Russian units or disappeared during Ukraine’s chaotic retreat from the eastern city of Avdiivka, according to senior Western officials and soldiers fighting for Ukraine, a devastating loss that could deal a blow to already weakening morale.
The Russian capture of Avdiivka has emerged as a significant symbolic loss for Ukrainian troops, a sign of the battlefield impact of the failure of the U.S. Congress, so far, to approve more military assistance as dwindling supplies of artillery shells make it even harder to hold the line.
Estimates of how many Ukrainians were captured or missing vary, and a precise count may not be possible until Ukraine solidifies new defensive lines outside the city. But two soldiers with knowledge of Ukraine’s retreat estimated that 850 to 1,000 soldiers appear to have been captured or are unaccounted for. The Western officials said that range seemed accurate."We don't beat the reaper by living longer, we beat the reaper by living well and living fully." - Randy Pausch

A million rounds confiscated from a felon should wind up in the hands of the Ukrainian armed forces. How do we do that?

It’s really sad that Republicans are starving the Ukrainian military. Their only excuse is the hollow “this can’t go on forever and they need to negotiate a peace deal”. When has a side in any war ever tried to look weak when suing for peace? Why would Russia accept anything but extremely favorable terms when they are taking ground? Republicans are literally doing Putins work for him.
