Brianhead this weekend?
Our condo is about full, but we have people who want to get a second one and are looking to find more people to fill it up.
Anyone want to head down there this weekend for some riding? You don't have to race, there are excellent shuttled rides, lift served, and XC.

It's looking now that if I do want to race, then I get to drive down from Park City super early on Monday, take one practice run, and go for it. Unless I get off work early sunday, but still only get the Monday morning practice run...so I may need a place one night but won't know until last minute.
This touchy-feely Kumbaya shit has got to go.

Hey, Patti and I will be down by Bryce. taking the bikes and will see if we can stop over. Is there a back way into Brian Head?

Many plagues this weekend, were do we start??? We all went down late Friday afternoon and got ready to ride on Saturday. Started with a nice Dark Hollow shuttle and we had a few casualties; I trashed a derailleur hanger and banged my derailleur up pretty good, AG bent her rear X-9 into a pretzel and made her whole drive train look pretty bad. Get back to Brianhead and get up for DH practice. AG blows her Manitou 6-way (for the third time) and my bike acts like the bitch that it is (chain line issues are killing me lately). Finish with 15 minutes to get ready for Dual Slalom (kinda of just for fun, only about 15 of us raced). On Sunday, we start with a Blowhard shuttle and limb back to Brianhead (I lost a rear brake, AG's 575 is pushed to its limit). Gear up for DH practice and AG asks me if she can ride my AS-X since her DH bike is down for the count (she was going to borrow a shock for the race). Reluctantly I agree and off we go. Something bad happened and she ended up with a broken arm (not too bad, may still be able to ride at Mammoth in 2 weeks); Bummed to say the least. As Stump takes her for X-rays (Thanks again dude; sure you don't want a DH bike so you can enjoy this stuff too?), I go back to practice. My bike is falling apart and I can't keep my chain on (even with a new e13). I get off the DH with 15 minutes to spare for the Dual again but my AS-X is now down for the count with AG's DH rig so I take my DH bike. Really long, heavy DH bikes are not made for dual, enough said. Race dawns and I get out for first chair because I want two practice runs before the race at 1030am. Launch a jump WAY too fast and blow my front tire off. Run to the truck and fix it but no time for a second (or complete) practice run. First race run is tough, legs are cramping but pumped for run #2. Start great and really start to feel a rhythm. About 1/2 way down, I hit the rock section pretty fast but blow though smooth. Jump a small 5' log drop to a road and my fork blows up in my face; goggles are covered in fork oil, my mouth is full of pretty hot oil and my right fork leg is now in a few pieces. To say that I was bummed is a major understatement. At this point, I'm standing on the side of the course as my race buddies are flashing by, ALL of our bikes are broken, my wife is broken and I have to go back to work tomorrow. FKNA.
I'm fixing the DH9 up so it can be sold. Anyone interested? I will give one hell of a deal (it will be basically new, I just can't race on it anymore). AG's Giant DH Team will have a new Manitou 6-way within a few weeks and will be for sale as well (she is getting a sweet Ventana from a friend that is totally pimped out; I think I will be on a Ventana as well with a beefed 888). What exactly is a hell of a deal? I just got into racing and am looking for more of a race frame to replace the bullit.

All the mechanical and human carnage was definitely tough to watch. I was the lucky member of the bunch and ended up with "only" a big ole raspberry hackjob on my knee from an endo near the end of Blowhard, and some new strange sounds coming out of my drivetrain.
But thanks for letting me be the third wheel, and taking me on some sweet shuttle rides. T'was a fun weekend. Perhaps next year at this time, we'll all have new bikes that make us less sandy (and hurty), and we can go back to BH and get a rebate

Bum deal, AGs. I still wish I coulda been there this weekend. I knew altagirl was tough, but if she races Mammoth with a broken arm, she'll instantly reach super-badass status...Mr. AG's already there for blowing up a Shiver.
You 2 better get the bike situation figured out soon. I got a fever and the only cure is MOAB!!!

holy crap you guys!! what the hell just happened?!?! that's a sad crazy story with all those broken parts. i hope AG heals up fast!
what's the deal with brian head? old indian burial ground sending out bad vibes or something??? my roomates and I are headed to ride down south this weekend in st george and were thinking of stopping at brian head one of the days. maybe we should re-think.....

Damn man, puts some of the small problems my friends and I had this weekend in perspective... Hope AG heals up.
What kind of chain issues are you having? I think I remember seeing that you were riding a DHI (I think)... A friend of mine has one and with the wheel in the short wheel base position, she was constantly getting the chain sucked into the chainstay by the rear wheel. She moved it to the longer position and hasn't had much trouble.

This makes me angry and I try to go even faster. That and for some reason I try to ride like I weight 160 lbs when in actuality, I am a tad bit heavier

Moab will happen with no problem, Bag's fever will be cured. Mammoth will be hammered as well, provided I can fix ALL of our bikes.
Lynx, Brianhead is still sweet and we actually still had a great time. Go do Dark Hollow or Blow Hard if you go up there, just be careful as all the water erosion this year has been bad. The trails around St. George are the same, I have heard parts of Grafton and Flying monkey are REALLY bad. Maybe stick to Gooseberry and you will be fine.
Art, Let me go through the bike over the next few days and see if I can ride AG's Giant at Mammoth. I won't sell anything without knowing it is ready to go. Are you just looking for just the frame? If so, I will part it out. The DH9 takes its own rear end (the only thing that really pisses me off about Yeti) and I just spent over $500 for a new Hadley rear wheel. heh... Granted I wasn't racing, but while I was riding Saturday, all I could think was, "I'm Marc Blount and I swear to gawd I'm funky, I'm Marc Blount and I swear to gawd I'm funky." Occasionally, something to the effect of "...from the top of the free throw line" or "I swear to gawd I'm gonna windmill dunk it again" would pop in too.

09-06-2005, 08:08 AM #21Yeah, it wasn't anything to do with Brianhead... I love those trails. Front tire blew on me as I landed a drop that goes right into a corner. With no front tire I went right into a tree. I"m going to beg my doc to cast it around my bars or something, but that might be a hard sell. So there's probably a good chance Mr,AG will be using my bike at mammoth... but it's just a tiny little fracture... I was just bummed I didn't get to race - that's one of my favorite courses.

Well I'd love to take that frame/wheel off your hands. Let me know if we can make this happen because I can get the $800 to you asap. What size is the frame and what weight spring are you running? I'm really not in a huge hurry, so if you need it for mammoth that's no problem.
