Its going off in NE, ECers report in

Today was epic at Sugarbush. Face shots for the first two runs, then awesome pow until 1030 or so when it started to get pretty tracked up. Unfortunately we have no base besides this storm, so rocks popped up quickly. That, and they didnt open everything they could. But, it still was a fantastic day.

I just checked in with friends at Sugarloaf, they picked up 44 inches from this Noreaster, the entire mountain is open. How was everyone else's day?

went to attitash since I didn't have time to make it anywhere else and....OH MY GOD. So much powder, everyone was poaching everything and I don't think they checked my pass once. Rode my first chair up with the former owner of Attitash, that was cool. I got my first face shots ever, and I have discovered my skis are not fat enough for waist deep pow. Now if only people would learn to drive or get the hell out of my way on Rt. 16....

It was EPIC at Mt Snow I got there at 8:45 and there was still fresh all over the place the snow report said that they had 31" in the last 48 hours it was SICK, I've had powder days out west but this was one of the greatest days that I have ever skied. Started out the day on my CMH Explosives, but couldn't resist the temptation to break out the G4's for super high speed carvablilty on the trails that weren't powder but unfortunately they paid the price from all the rocks that floated to the surface due to the lack of base but who the hell cares. As the day went along all the trails got tracked out we just started poaching the closed trails, Patrol was cheering us on from the Challenger triple I guess they kept the closed ropes up to weed out the hacks skiing in the trees off of Olympia was spectacular. What a day, face shots on the east coast

For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can't be found, elseways everyone would know where it was

The pain of not being able to experience this storm can not be dulled by Percocet!

    Thumbs up Some gotten

Smuggs was going off today bigtime. Nor'easter hit with a force and depositied about 24 to 30 inches of snow on Lamoille County.
Face shoots from bell to bell if you knew where to look. Didn't have time to take many photos but here is a sample.

It has stopped snowing now but it snow for a solid 30 hours. Enough so I was skiing pow in my backyard last night. It's good to have a backyard with a slope.[

Oh, goodygoodygoody. And they said VT wouldn't get a thing. Reminds me of an old joke: Why is a Nor'Easter like a man? .... 'Cause you can't tell how deep he'll go and when he'll come. (An old girlfreind told me that)

I'll be up there Tue. and Wed..

I was at K-Mart saturday and sunday, saturday was pretty good conditions, VERY windy and snowing all day...It snowed through the night and got alteast 14 overnight, and continued to snow throughout the day! Face shots all day, and there was still some untracked by 11:30, unfortunately i ducked the wrong rope and ended up at the base next to snowshed, by the skyway gondola or something, but that whole base area was closed so i had to hike out to snowshed. under a mile of hiking took me and two other guys 2 hours!!! after that we were exhausted and called it a day, but for my first two days on snow this season i was extremely pleased!! anyone else there today or yesterday??

hit kmart today as well. got in deeper than i think i ever have, and i've been around the block a few times. skinny skis and deep pow are kind of fun when there's no terrain to play with.

big news from basom: jay didn't open today due to wind.

i really really should work tomorrow for a lot of pretty legit reasons.

but it was deep today. very deep.

do i lose maggot status if i don't ski tomorrow?

Skied Kmart today, probably the best day in history that they've had. I think they're around 40"(granted they're K inches but faceshots were had) Here's a couple posts from today that I just put up:

What else can be said about today's conditions that haven't been already. Epic, best day ever, better than west conditions, utah snow consistency, crazy face shots all day.

I could run through the amazing runs throughout the day but I would be writing a book with all the stories we have. Let's just say, we'll be talking about this day for a VERY long time.

Boulders were launched, double ejections were had, snorkels were required on some trails, poaching wasn't really in the vocabulary today. It's STILL snowing right now, if that's possible. Any trail was doable at sometime during the day. Our whole house is hobling right now from sore muscles and we're all wearing perpetual grins.

This was the best day of the season, year, decade, history of K, bar none.

    Another one:

Ropes were bypassed early in the morning but they were dropped throughout the day. Funniest quote was from a married couple skiing into Superstar in the afternoon after at least 200 people hit it alreay: "Isn't this trail closed, I just don't want to get in trouble." Most trails that were closed in the morning, were open by noon, patrollers just needed the time to scope them out. Superstar had the most amazing faceshots in the lower headwall, I had to stop because I couldn't breathe

    Faceshots were had at:
Downdraft, Escapade, Downdraft (launched the boulder into chest deep ),Superstar, Middle Ovation, Royal Flush, Low Rider, Flume, the Light, Patsies, Dreammaker, Needles Eye, Middle Vertigo, and many more. Most were tracked out by noon but we found a few later on and ended with faceshots at 3pm.

    B)

All I can say is wow! Haven't been around for a while, but I had to put my change for a nickel in on this weekend in VT.

Attention Kmart shoppers, blue light special on ass tons of powder on aisle 6!

I just got home after two days of skiing at Killington and it snowed the entire time we were there. Drove up in it on Friday (a 13 hour car ride from hell) and it was still snowing when we left today. After three solid days of seeing nothing but snow falling, I forgot what the sky looked like! My liver and legs will be recovering for a while after that trip. Between the Goonbays at the Grist Mill and the ridiculous skiing, it was quite a weekend.

Today was unbelievable. This morning I'd say there were at least three feet of powder on the trails off of the Superstar chair. The first couple of runs were epic. Some was gotton and faceshots were had on Superstar. Old Superstar and Ovation were a blast too, but Superstar's steeper pitch and waist deep pow under the chair made it the run of the day.

While I don't think any of those runs were actually open today, they would have needed cops on the hill to keep everyone from poaching. There were more people on the closed trails then the open ones! The carnage was spectacular. People were double ejecting and searching for lost skis everywhere. Too bad there wasn't a bit more base up there. Them hills had teeth! I've got to get a few core shots fixed for next weekend. Going back up to Sugarbush! If whoever is in charge can arrange another Nor'Easter, I'd appreciate it!

Oh yeah. On Saturday, I saw someone walking out of the lodge at the top of the K1 gondola with a PM sticker on their helmet at about 12:15 ish.
    Just wondering who it was?

    That's affirmative squadron leader.
Hitch-hiked over to Wobbly from the Grist Mill after heavy Goonbay intake. (Well, we tried to go to the Pickle first, but they wouldn't let us in.) We were indeed there with some of the Snowsearch guys and some UMD and BU people. You know the Snowsearch guys? Just wondering what your connection was. Who knows, I could have been slurring something in your direction last night.

    i knew it....

Arik, Eric & I were drinking/ski club buddies @ UMass. (that older jay dude-really hammered last night- was the old ski club pres from several years before arik/eric did it even, i lived in the same dorm as his younger brother as a frosh, so I drank a lot with him too)

    Ok, now I'm intrigued.
I know Arik, I know Eric and I know Jay... So which Masshole were you?

I was a UMD club officer a couple of years ago. I've been going up on those rep weekends with Snowsearch for the last five years or so. I'm sure we've stumbled across each other (figuratively and literally) in the past if you know those guys and were in the club. Feel free to shoot me an email huck_finn_skiAThotmailDOTcom.
