there i said it. so to dejong myself after ~800 posts...here i go (warning, this might sound like a lame mastercard commercial)

    take one east coast skier.

get him a job at the best hotel ever

add a crazy, tele-ripper roomate to follow around.

    and of course some pow.

    well alot of pow really

a first cliff to jump off

    an escalator

    a sick bc bootah

    some sick scenery

    and finally...

No picture stoke from me today. But I wanted to say that this morning I let myself think about something good! I closed my eyes and imagined what it will feel like to click into my bindings for the first time this season and from there it went like this...

I'm standing at the top of a run, my legs unsure and wobbly from a summer of walking, not sliding. For a second, I'm scared. Do I even remember how to do this?

Then I push forward. At first it's all wrong. I'm fighting the snow, the skis, the forces of gravity. But then one turn feels right. And the next. I pick up speed.

I breathe deeply the cold air around me and hear the soft sounds of my skis against the snow (hey, I know you're thinking "WTF is with this girl, it's the EC!"....but this is my fantasy and there's no ice. let me run with it! )

I get to the bottom. It was my first run of the season. I exhale and see my breath, a plume that quickly spreads into the grey air, evidencing my effort. I'm a bit sweaty, maybe more from the jitters and happiness than the actual exertion.

I look around at the trees, the woods piled with dead leaves... and I wish they were ready. They will be a few more weeks. But this is good.

Skiing has started and I feel like I'm with an old friend I haven't seen in a long time, and conversation is flowing as easily as if we'd never parted.

    The end.
