Enough boring snowy mountains! Where are our Machu Picchu souveniers and Alpaca-wool hats?

Amazing pictures. Hopefully someday I can see those suckers in person. I just have to find more adventurous climbing partners.
A lot of people earn their turns. Some just get bigger checks.

Fantastic TR! Those photos of Huayhuash are really making me look forward to my trip there next summer. Do you have any tips for a Peruvian JONG?

PM me with any specific questions, but all I know is how to get from Lima to Huaraz and then Huaraz to the mountains. Don't know jack shit about the rest of Peru (Cusco, amazon, northern beaches, etc.).

    Here are some quick tips:
    - Foodwise the only things you can't find Huaraz (that you might want) are energy gels/bars/drink powder, couscous (rice doesn't cook without a pressure cooker at altitude so pasta is the only other option), and good hot-coco than doesn't need to be mixed with milk. You can even find peanut butter in huaraz.
    - No one wants to make change, even trying to get change for a 10 Sole note can be a pain at times. Avoid this by hitting the bank teller right after the ATM and asking them to break your large (100 sole) bills into coins and smaller notes.
    - A hostal with a good, hot shower is worth the extra $.
    - We ran out of iodine and bummed some from another group, but before that I couldn't find any in Huaraz. (didn't look very hard though)
    - You can rent almost any bit of outdoor equipment you need, but it might be a bit dated and is certainly used. You cannot buy any technical gear though, it's all only for rent (and they will ask you if you want to sell anything).

    - Hostal recommendations:

Great TR! Was down there a month ago trekking santa cruz, 69, and churup. I didn't do any climbing but wondered what it'd be like to be up there, those mtns are incredible.
