Down at the Astoria the scene was changing,
Bingo and rock were pushing out X-rating,
We were the first band to vomit in the bar,
And find the distance to the stage too far,
Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'clock,
    Rock is dead they say,
    Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

People walk in sideways pretending that they're leaving,
We put on our makeup and work out all the lead-ins,
Jack is in the alley selling tickets made in Hong Kong,
Promoter's in the pay box wondering where the band's gone,
Back in the pub the governor stops the clock,
    Rock is dead, they say,
    Long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

    Landslide, rocks are falling,
Falling down 'round our very heads,
We tried but you were yawning,
Look again, rock is dead, rock is dead, rock is dead.

The place is really jumping to the high-watt amps,
'Til a 20-inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps,
In the blackout they dance right into the aisle,
And as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles,
Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock,
    Rock is dead, they say,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock,
Long live rock, long live rock, long live rock.

Long live rock, I need it every night,
Long live rock, come on and join the line,
Long live rock, be it dead or alive.

too damn thin and way too long? Maybe?

You woulda been one of maybe three. I was looking decidedly the reddest of anybody there, strange when I was shooting to be mid-red.

note: your sombrero = not a real cowboy hat

Did I say "Mexican Gardener"? Do you know my whole hat collection? Edit those roll eyes before I come down there and "process some adjustments on your GLs" if you get my drift.

I dunno woodsy, some shows in D-town (notably those of the REK stripe) draw a decidedly PBR crowd (going to see a show during stock show = hollee shit). For as fucking rock and roll as the whole deal was I was surprised at the really soft edge on the crowd.

agreed on foggy. Lame. vagina = packed full of sand.

in all seriousness, thank you for the tip.

    today's paper:

    Mick's the 'mum,'
    Keith tells mag

Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards says he and Mick Jagger are the odd couple of rock, but that hasn't stopped them sizzling on stage for 43 years.

"Mick has to get up in the morning with a plan. Who he's going to call, what he's going to eat, where he's going to go," 61-year-old Richards told Newsweek magazine.

"Me, I wake up, praise the Lord, then make sure all the phones are turned off. If we were a mum-and-pop operation, then he'd be Mum."

As the Stones get set to kick off their latest concert tour in Boston on Aug. 21, Richards said he and Jagger are still in sync when it comes to making new music.

Richards said the new songs on band's upcoming album "A Bigger Bang" stem from the closest working relationship they've had in years.

"We were sitting across the table looking at each other, like, 'You. Me. That's all there is,'" he said, explaining that the only other original Stone, drummer Charlie Watts, was battling throat cancer when the album was written.

"I could see why some people may think we're phoning it in after all this time," Richards said. "But playing the music we do, and playing it with these guys, 'Jumpin' Jack Flash' can be a new song to me every night."
