Thread: anyone else have problems w/ tyrolia binders?

Im never buyin a pair of these fuckers ever again. My right binding had been pre-releasing for about a week and i was pretty surprised because my DIN was set at 11 or 12 at the time. I took my skis off and noticed that the heel piece was sliding back and forth about .25-.5 inches. took em to the shop and found out that the plastic was snapped in half in between the ski and the main heel piece. After the shop guy tried superglueing the pieces back together i got them epoxied and the problem has improved somewhat. that bullshit almost got me fucked up when the right ski came flyin off right at the beginning of a huck . they were pretty expensive i thought (around $200 i think) and they only have about 45 days of wear and tear, kinda early for important parts to start snappin in half if you ask me.

I had a bunch of problems with mine many years ago and never tried them again. Tyrolia's fall under the same category as Markers for me. Started using Looks in 1989 and have never used anything else since (Had one Salomon briefly. Good binders as well)

You're skiing on bindings that have been superglued/epoxied back together?


I tried some demo Tyrolia's last year. I don't like the cheesy plastic rattling noise they made. I'll be sticking to Rossis/Looks.

if i could afford new bindings i would buy em, along with a pair of fatties as well. i think the epoxy should be fine for the next couple of months, ill prolly get a whole new set up by mid-feb. definetly will be getting some look or rossi bindings, have heard nothin but good stuff about them, until then ill have to keep my hucks to 30 ft and smaller.

If you keep an eye on ebay you should be able to find new 120s/P12s for $120 or so, 140s go for closer to $150. (I got one pair for $125 last year, but they're harder to find.)

not to hijack the thread, (and here i go hijack the thread) but ive heard some people say that the t-power plate on rossi bindings is worth it, even for a pow ski? (scratch bcs) opinions?

I have a pair, just bacause those are the bindings I found a deal on at the same time I got a deal on my Big Stix 106. It's not much of a plate so I don't think it makes all that much difference. They're still absolutely great in powder. I would have gone without the plate if it made any sense money-wise.

And oddly enough the guy I was talking to at Deep Powder House like 2-3 weeks ago recommended the ones with the lifter plate for anything other than a park ski.

Thanks... i'm not too into the park (im trying, but i dont have the guts at the moment to go huge on a kicker), so i'll find some bindings with a lifter...

on that note, is there anything really bad about using the demo bindings i have on 'em, besides hte increased weight? /i bought these from the deep powder house at the goldminer? the one not at the rustler/

I don't think so. I bought some AK Launchers from Sports Den a while back and used them with the S912 demo bindings for a few months before I put Fritchis on them. They're heavy, but as long as they're in good condition, and you don't have serious issues with the brand, I wouldn't worry about it. At least use them until you find a deal on what you want.

yeah, no problems with the brand... the demos are rossi scratch 100 bindings... they'll be fine until i can argue my way into another pair

I have some and a little bit of plastic around the heel screw broke a little bit, but I dont think it matters too much, I think its just normal wear and tear.

I've never had a problem with these binders, I've never popped out of them though, so maybe that is a problem.
