    Mt. Bancroft 6/18-19 TR

I just HAD to go camping...so i picked a random spot and pointed my truck in that direction. Stewart road was clear to within a 1/4 mile of Loch Lomond, so access was easy (if you have a truck, subies ect would not make it up stewart road)

hiked up to around 12,000 yesterday evening and set up camp

sprinkled rain and snow for a few hours, then became crystal clear.
This pic is bad, but this rainbow was clearly visible end to end for nearly 30 minutes

    4:30 am this morning

    peaking out

grays and torreys in the distance

old ski area? viewed from near the summit

the face I would have skied if i wasnt a pussy (or solo w/o a whippet)

boilerplate to mank in 500 vertical

i skied the face around 8 and it was fucking SLOPPY....saw a dude start heading up the trail with his dog at like 9:30......hope he makes it out alive

edit: i meant i skied the bowl around 8

yeah, i totally should have skied it, but the snow got wet FAST....it went from frozen suncups to boot deep slop in a matter of 4 or 5 turns....

it wasnt really about the skiing anyway...i did a fair amount of hiking for only like 1500 vert of skiing...it was mainly about getting off my ass for once

    Hells yeah!

    TR of the week mang.

It looks like a great trip. Props on going solo and still being smart with your decision making. You gained experience from this and did it all for the love of it.

Good job. I need to get some camping gear together and do some solo too. Got some places I intend to explore that might not pan out very well for skiing and are miles to walk...

Love that first dawn pic. Really pretty.

almost...the summit is at 13,250 and it really only froze above 12,800 or so....the upper bowl (not visible) was rock hard, but the visible stuff never froze and was really shitty

Hearing many reports of many wet slides throughout the front range and no overnight freeze now for 4 nights in a row at Niwot Ridge. Looks like it's time to juego al golf for a while.

    Yeah Mon

That had to be a good trip. I saw your tent the other day but I didn't know you had the pack'n thing going. Not too many people can handle pack'n with ski's or board, that's sweet that your out doing it. I'll be certain to put some miles in with my pack on. We just did a two night trip and talk'n about doing the Gore Range trail.
