Wilmot represent!
Just was back for a meeting and ate at Yusho, Matthias Merges new yakitori place. Small towns in North America tend to have shitty food.
Something to consider. When I lived in Winthrop: 4 almost decent places to eat, no food delivery, no movie theater, no taxi to take your drunk ass home, etc.

Actually it was 1974, but you get my point. I swear, everytime I visit home all i hear about is $$$. It was hard growing up in the Peninsula with that mindset in the 80's, I can't imagine how fucked up it is now. New money trash everywhere.
I drive so much now that 4 hrs from CA is nothing. I was in a Flagstaff last week and liked it. you could launch to almost anywhere from there.

GF and I are looking at the same spot. Likely moving this summer sometime. Going to start in Sacramento, then move somewhere East within commuting distance to Roseville. Been enamored with Cool, but it is a little far of a drive. Having a place with good views of the American river gorge(s) would be sick.

Durango would be high on my list. Glenwood/Roaring Fork valley is basically the only ski town I think I'd move back to at this point. There are actually some jobs to be had there and enough people that you won't know everyone in a few months. At least, thats my perception. Actually, I might consider Park City too, but I've never been there.
I had a couple of friends living in Reno last year (travel nursing) and I visited them a few times. Seems like an OK town, but I hope you are a fan of tattoos. I've never seen so much ink in all of my life.

since Durango is getting some love I will offer up Monte Vista Colorado. very affordable. Is within an hour of Wal Mart though. Demographics look good for a single guy.The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.3 males. Having the La Platas is a big plus for Durango however the sprawl is getting out of hand. Plus the parking meters downtown need to go away.
