I've said it a long time, and maybe because it used to be my home mountain...I'd be happy skiing A Basin any day. Between East Wall and Pali, there's enough there to keep me occupied most any day. I'd had thigh deep East Wall days in May, and I've had lots of fun days shredding hardpack on Pali. A good run taking Second Notch from the top is hard to beat...or Snorkel....classic CO runs. I've only skied Alta a few times, and it's pretty awesome too (though, I probably like the skiing at Snowbird more)....they're all super fun.

+1 for Alta. A Basin has some great terrain but nothing beats Alta on a deep day

You can't compare Silverton to any other ski area for obvious reasons

Skied alta a lot. Never been to Basin. That says it all.
I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Average annual snowfall and 24 hour max snowfall are not close. Over the past eight season Alta's average snowfall is 504" Abasin 235". Abasin's max 24 hour snowfall is 19", Alta has seven season of more than 20" with a 39" and two 27" totals. Currently Alta has twice as much snow on the ground as Abasin.
If you want to consider a pow day as skiing 24" or more of snow here are some numbers from this season, pretty much an average year. Alta has had storm totals of 25", 25" 35", 37" 40", 55" and 89".
Alta measures their snowfall total at an automated snow study plot mid-mountain in an undisturbed area.Last edited by bigdude2468; 03-17-2017 at 06:26 AM.

Yeah I like living in a culturally progressive state with decent skiing, and a larger and much more progressive urban area that actually has full strength beer.
SLC has better skiing but your city is a dump compared to Denver. Cherry creek and Lower Highlands is literally more cosmopolitan than your entire state.
So yeah I way prefer a basin and partying until May into mid June than living in smog lake city.
Also we have Aspen and telluride and crested butte within striking distance
And you've never even skied at the basin so shut the fuck up
